Hi,

I'm just wondering if metal cutlery has returned in UC and in the CH. It's back in BA FIRST, Club World, Club Europe and in their Terraces Lounges so I wasn't sure if Virgin had followed suit?

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks Nick

Does anyone know if it is currently available in UC to Barbados?

Thats a negative I'm afraid Tom, VS have not yet re-introduced metal cutlery on any flights [:(]

Oh! Let's hope they do sometime soon as cutting with plastic can be so hard!

Thanks,

Yes, it's a thicker black coloured plastic in Upper Class.

Economy has semi-transparent coloured plastic ones, which are smaller.

Well LH have put it back, I had metal cuttlery in Business on my LH flight to/from TLV, FRA and BHX last week. I hope VS re-introduce it again soo, makes life so much easier!

I'll be honest - if I need metal to cut it then I'd hate to think what it's doing to my digestive tract...

I hate eating soup from a plastic spoon, the BA cutlery is the same in F and J, rather thin and cheap looking.

It's an old refrain of mine this (just ask the wife!) but it's the mix n' match silliness that gets me. So, I'm not allowed a butter knife but you'll give me this lovely Sheffield-steel fork? Crazy!

Mind you, Singapore always place a little explanatory card on your food tray along with the cutlery explaining the situation - i.e. they'd like you give us metal forks but they're not currently allowed to!

I think I have mentioned it here before but you get metal chopsticks for the sushi in the LHR Clubhouse. Anyone know if they give out chopsticks on flights to HKG or NRT with oriental meal options and if these are wooden or metal ?

Umm. I've not had metal chop sticks in the CH. Always been red plastic.

BTW It helps if you use my Aunty Mae's accent when describing the cuttlery - Plaarstic Messing kit

I got metal chopsticks with my sushi in the LHR Clubhouse a couple of weeks ago. Crossed my mind at the time that you could do a bit of damage with them if you were so inclined. They also had the thin chrome-style pens with the fin on them, which have always struck me as something one could put ones' eye out with.

Worth keeping one of those of you still see them lying around. Used to be loads in the JFK Clubhouse but they are now handing out plastic ones where the section near the nib has a bump to resemble the front of a 747. Much easier to use and "cute" but not as classy as the thin chrome-style pens with the fins

KLM had metal cutlery in Y on my last long haul with them. Please VS bring it back. Though I guess people are less likely to "keep" plastic!

I've not seen chopsticks on many flights, not even Chinese Domestic!

Virgin do have Chopsticks available on asian flights which can be offered with Oriental entrees, also I think that the current clear plastic cutlery in Upper Class is of a very strong type.

I can understand that metal is nice but as someone said its nice to pinch, and with the current fuel prices expensive to carry...
