Just seen a load of phots on airliners.net V.Sad I'm sure I must of flown on one of them on the LGW-BOS Route in the early 90's, why did they take that flight from LGW[?]
Have you got any links to them in that case, VSKY? Each photo has a "taken on" date - it's quite important in this case, as the aircraft went to a new owner last year. They wouldn't have VS livery on any more.

VAA 742's parked in the dessert!By the way, are they in a cheesecake, or a pie?

Originally posted by jetwet1You mean I would have found that? (From 2005, of course, so yes, out of date [:p])
Mr Preiffer,if you had bothered to check A'net rather than checking for spelling errors.you would of found this
Although SOMEONE on here could have done that at 20:47, rather than posting a lazy "give me more details" reply, too... [:p][:?]
Proclaimers, anyone? Get the van, Dave... (Perhaps one with a time-reversal option

On a serious note - Did that guy in Mojave not mention where they'd been sold to? I'm sure he did, but I can't remember... [?]
Ok for those of you that are now scratching your heads...I posted, then realised that I had messed it up,Mr P being in an evil mood today was right there waiting for me to post..
Anyways..what it kind of said was..the only pic's on A'net hereare from 2004-2005,so no road trip [:#]
Your right..lazy reply on my part..at least the thread hasn't gotten onto women fashions yet.

Just the usual search on airliners, VA mojouve
Mojave even?

They're all from well before November last year, which is when a group of us on the "Viva Las V-Flyer" social went up to Mojave to look around - no evidence of VS planes there then

BTW, this FAQ gives a list of the retired VS aircraft and their (as current as possible) whereabouts
Cheers
Michael

They've gone to various carriers, two I believe went to Transaero. What do you mean by "why did they take that flight from LGW?"?
I really would like some 742s in my dessert though.
The Boston route was once from LGW, so my question is why now LHR

The normal reason for moving from LGW to LHR is to make sure all of their LHR slots are used up.
My memory is a little hazy as to when the move was, but the first time I flew out of LHR to BOS instead of LGW was November 2001, my first flight after the Sept 11th murders.
Was it because the Chicago and Toronto routes were cancelled post 9/11, and they wanted to fill up the slots? That is why the MIA flight moved, so it would make sense if two flights moved to fill two slots.
Nick
To preserve the slots that VS have at LHR, they need to be in use. After the freezing of some routes from LHR after 9/11 such as ORD, YYZ and one of the NYC flights (though coming back), certain routes were moved to balance up the slots.

Richard
