I'd just like to throw my tuppence into the ring if I may?
Firstly, I know what it's like to run a website and for those of you that have never experienced such a fiend, believe me, it's hard going and that's even without a forum section. At the end of the day, each and every letter that you type and send to these forums has to be stored on a hard drive on a computer somewhere. Each character costs space and if the mods didn't keep a close eye on this space, I'm afraid we would lose some of the valuable information imparted on these forums that are available. For casual users like myself, this plethora of "insider information" can be the difference between making the most out of your trip at the first attempt or going in blind, personally, I prefer the former.
The mods here are very approachable (so I've found) unlike most other forum sites I've been on. I'd feel confident in asking them their opinion, knowing I'm going to get an informed answer and not "holier than thou" attitudes. For my mind, the mods do an unenviable and sterling job especially as they have "day jobs" too. [y] It's just their passion and love for this site that keeps it going.
Their passion and love for this site is shared between many of it's members as shown by the vast majority of people buying membership kits to support and pay for the bandwidth that this site must use. It's more of a community than a forum but as previous posters have said, you've got 2 choices ultimately. Stay, read and enjoy what's here or find another site. I'm staying, so you're not going to get rid of me that easily!
