PE seats

Hi, i'm new to these boards,

We are travelling to Orlando Economy and our return is PE, we have assigned our seats, row 82 the call taker informed us that we seated on the upper deck, but when looking on the website the seats they have given us are on the lower deck.

I telephoned to confirm if we are on the upperdeck, and they are adamint we are on the upper deck

Can anyone help and put our minds at rest, are we on the upper deck.

Welcome to the board! You're right - the seat maps DO show that 82 is on the lower deck. If you know your booking reference you could look on the Virgin Site to confirm this on their maps. Your query spurred me to check our flight - the VS15 on the 22nd next week. Gosh it's full - 2 seats in PE left and that's it.

Have you used the v-flyer seat maps to review this, out of interest, or the Virgin Atlantic ones?

Either way, you're correct. There isn't a current plane layout with row 82 on the upper deck (assuming it's a LGW 747 anyway, with those seat numbers). 81 & 82 are the two rows of PE on the lower deck.

We only upgraded to PE on the last day of the offer to upgrade for £50.

We have connecting flights from Newcastle to Gatwick, and they have changed our flight times, so our booking shows 6 flights. Due to this we can not look at our booking online.

The same goes for given them the advance info for where we are staying.

Anyways as they have said,row 82 is on the lower deck,call them back and if the person you are talking to still feels like telling you your on the upper deck,ask for a supervisor,explain calmly that you are looking at the seat maps on VS.com,V-Flyer.com and even seatguru.com which clearly show rows 81 & 82 on the lower deck,for reference you are looking for are rows 70 - 80.

I had 80H&K booked on a LGW-MCO flight last year and had checked and double-checked the aircraft type and was certain it was on the upper deck. However, when I got on, the staff member who greeted me said it was downstairs (you can imagine I was a tad peeved at this point [:(]), so off I trundled only to be quickly ushered out from somewhere near the posh pointy bit. The staff member who ushered me out (whilst I was asking myself if I really looked like I could never fly UC) said that row 80 was downstairs. I was not convinced so marched upstairs in a huff to find my seats up there [:(!]. Tsk tsk, lesson to learn for Virgin staff: know your aircraft, people!

Anyhoo, the long and short of it is that LGW-MCO 747s, row 80 is the last one upstairs.

Okay i get the jist of this forum, no harm done anyway.

The problem we have is the language barrier, and have found the customer service has droped in standard in my opinion PLEASE DO NOT SHOOT ME HERE !

Dh was excited and told his work mates that we were sitting on the upper deck, and is now a little deflated, never mind it is only the on the way back so we can have a little sleep.

What is the PE service like.

IÕve been PE twice (rtn on one trip) and I have to say I LOVED it. Here is why:
Â¥ Extra leg room and foot rest means likelihood of sleep
Â¥ Extra room so you can get past the person sitting next to you without getting too personal
Â¥ Less queues for toilets if upstairs
Â¥ More frequent and faster drink/food service
Â¥ Champagne to get your flight off to a great start
Â¥ Drinks available throughout the flight and refreshed regularly, just help yourself
Â¥ Great staff service (but same in Y)
Â¥ You get off the plane first/sooner than most
¥ The very best bitÉ.separate luggage carousel from Y class. Superb. Love it.

It was funny cos one chap came upstairs to Ôhave a lookÕ and was chatting to one of the staff, who said to him ÒOh we can give a much more personal service up here as there are less passengersÓ and then blushed as she realised what she said! Hee hee!

Now where did I put my credit card? LetÕs get that BOS flight upgraded as IÕve just reminded myself of all the reasons!

Your not going to get shoot for saying that,everyone at some point when dealing with a company has come across someone that needs lets say,some more training,if you come across that with VS feel free to post it,the only thing we ask is that you do not use the persons name as it is doubtful they would have a chance to defend themseleves.

Have you tried ging VS a call again?

PE is a good place to be,as you will find it beats the heck out of economy,just the extra legroom makes for a far better trip.

The layout of the plane has possibly changed now, but when I flew PE to MCO back in 2002, we were given an Upper Class seat with PE service. I am not sure of the seat numbers we had, but there were 1 seats in the cabin. This was a real bonus. The Upper service would have been nice too.

Hi FV, yes - the layouts have changed now.

There used to be a larger "Upper Class" section on Gatwick Planes. You'll see the words "B Zone" mentioned - that's this is.

Where there were bigger seats available in a large section of the aircraft, that would otherwise go unused due to light UC loads, they used to offer them as "upgrades" but with PE service.



Now, the planes are restricted to 14 Upper Class seats, so no need to do it.
