I just can't take any more, I'm all in a knot with the jargon.

Please can anyone tell me if there is a list anywhere on this site that can help me decipher some of the abbreviations that I keep seeing in the forums.

Some of the ones I can remember are IIRC, ISTBC, IMHO, AFAIK

Sometimes I can figure them out but not all the time, I've tried hovering over them with my mouse but that doesn't work [:?]

Thanks

There is an abreviation page here, but doesn't appear to have those ones......

IMHO - In My Humble Opinion
AFAIK - As Far As I Know

and the others I'm not sure about......probably variations on these too.

IIRC - If I recall correctly
ISTBC - I stand to be corrected

I use those two all the time...

ISTBC but I didn't think we used that Internet Jargon on this board. IIRC we seem to use more Airliner jargon. I know this site used to have the feature that would underline acronym to let new users into what was being said. AFAIK this was taken away for service reasons.

But to start the list off...

LGW - London GatWick
LHR - London HeathRow
MCO - Orlando (McCOy...)
MIA - Miami International Airport
JFK - New York (John F Kennedy)
EWR - nEWaRk
IAD - International Airport Dulles (Washington DC)
BOS - BOSton
744 - Boeing 747-400
343 - Airbus A340-300
346 - Airbus A340-600

Someone else can continue the list if they wish, but lets not forget an important one...
LRoM - Lord Richard (I bow before thee....)

Crikey, I must be really old or really thick

JohnD, what's ROFL, I'm suffering brain freeze now [i]

Must say I did find the glossary and don't do too badly with the airline abbreviations its all the other stuff. I worry you know, I might be missing something really important in all this code jargon ;)

Ha ha , here are some extras an old friend of mine in the business once related:

BOAC - 'better on a camel'
QANTAS - 'queers and nice types of stewards'

Lots more even rude to call ... anyone got any clean ones.

TWA - "Try Walking Across"

As you say, some others are not suitable for repeating on the site;)
