Hi,
I wonder if one of you experts can advise me.
I have been saving up my miles for some time and I am not lucky enough to be a frequent flyer, so it has taken me some time to get to 160000 miles. The original plan was to book two UC reward flights to San Fransisco for May 2007, but I have obviously been caught out by the mile increase due in March.
I may not be able to go in 2006, but on reading the terms and conditions on the webpage I have come across clause 4.2.1 "Once reward tickets are issued, you may make a change to your travel date, route or class of service for an amendment fee of £25..."
Now I am thinking, what if I was to book the reward flights prior to 1.3.2006 for lets say November 2006 and then phone them up nearer the time and try and re-schedule the flights for May 2007.
Am I correct in thinking that this should be possible and only cost me £ 50, but no extra miles?
thanks for your help
Chris

I had a definitive answer to this question yesterday.

I had wanted to book an UC reward out to MCO and back from MIA - the outward route was not available in UC. Rather than wait and spend more miles I decided to book MIA both ways.

I asked what would happen if seats became available to MCO and I wanted to change. I was told that because I was Au there would be no charge to change the date, but if I wanted to change the destination then the extra mileage would be required.

He did have to check with his supervisor, surprised he hadn't already been asked.

Thank you Jilly, but I my case I would not change destination, but dates.

Technically, as long as the ticket is still valid, then the change fee applies, no additional miles. Remember tickets are valid 12 months from the DATE OF ISSUE if the ticket has not been travelled on.

So, if you make a reservation (for whatever date) on the 28th Feburary (for example) and the tickets get issued on the 3rd March, you would have to have COMPLETED travel by the 3rd march 2007.

Hope that helps.

Chris - Sorry I did realise but I probably over complicated things with the extra info. regarding destination changes. Juliet's knowledge regarding ticket issue dates and validity is obviously vital though!

Hopefully you can make your flight sooner rather than later.

I have booked UC seats for SFO for October. I was told that I would receive the tickets about August time. Does that mean that I would have a year from the date the ticket was issued ? or a year from the date I reserved?

Remember tickets are valid 12 months from the DATE OF ISSUE if the ticket has not been travelled on.

I take it that doesn't include fully flexible tickets which you can push out, albeit indefinitely. Or am I wrong on this?
