I heard this one also from cabin crew last month. Great news if it is true. I use AA at present when going to ORD and this makes me appreciate Virgin even more!

Yes, i have also been told the same about YYZ and ORD.

This will be fantastic, two cities that are both fab in themselves and im sure will generate a lot of revenue. YYZ is great, opening up Canada for us VS fans. I will be looking to book trips to both destinations when they are launched!

Thanks,
Sarah

Well, the existing AKL-HKG rotation on the 777 is still in the GDS for 4 trips per week even once the AKL-HKG-LHR starts up.

Maybe ANZ haven't consolidated the flights yet?

Indeed, if you look at HKG-AKL, the system will only sell you the 777 flights, yet for LHR-AKL, it will sell you via HKG.

I wonder, if they do this, will it cause problems for some people, as while the HKG-AKL times for both flights are fairly similar, that isn't the case for AKL-HKG - the existing flight has a late morning departure, whereas the NZ39 will have a late night departure.

I'm guessing it's not all straightened out by any means...

Cheers,
Mike

Mike I agree that its not straight forward,

Perhaps they are waiting to confirm the a/c type on the system.

My reading from it was that they didnt have the a/c to operate a double daily to HKG- the 747 that they are using on the new service will come from a mixture of the old CHC-LAX service and the Japanese Services.

Mexico City should be a profitable route. A population of 25 million people (even though many live in poverty) should make for high loads.

Although there is a certain amount of selfishness in that thought as I may be moving to Mexico this year and the thought of BA to London doesnt fill me with warm fuzzy feelings.

Mexicana just goes to JFK then its onwards to London with AA so thats a no no.
