I finally got my replacement passport today after the Air New Zealand fiasco where they damaged my old passport.

I dutifully went to go and add passport and API information to an upcoming booking to the US, and for some reason, my booking wasn't linked anymore.

I then realised that the account number didn't look familiar. Everything else looks okay, statement, FC account balance, tier points, just the number has changed, from one 009 number to a different 009 number.

Very odd. Anyone have a clue what might be going on?

Called FC, turns out the old account was frozen and replaced with a new one yesterday.

Seemed to be related to never getting a renewal kit, it looks like my database record was somehow broken or corrupted, and the easiest way to fix it was to migrate everything to a new record.

Cheers,
Mike

Incidentally, Mike, have you been issued with one of the new style biometric passports (or "ePassports", as they are bizarrely named) or the older style? You've received yours during the 5 month transition period.

Nope, vanilla digital photo model passport.

I'm actually kind of glad I managed to get this done before the sunrise period for the e-passport actually kicks in, because the lack of security on the current e-passports is scary.

Some Dutch researchers managed to interrogate and download the biometric data from a prototype Dutch e-passport with home-made equipment:

I'm now on my second new number since January. There seems to be a complete horlicks with renewals at the moment. Nobody at Virgin seems to be able to fix it other than by trying to create a new account and requesting a new pack. So far, this has failed to work for me, hence two new numbers. I am still waiting for my renewal five months after the previous one expired.

Maybe I'm getting obsessed about this, but last night, I dreamt that I bumped into Steve Ridgway in a bar and told him about this, and he agreed that some chunks of VS couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

God only knows what that means... is there a dream analysis expert in the house? ;)

Still waiting for my renewal park too. I thought it was just me but having read this thread I think I better give F.C. a ring

I have called them four or five times about this with no success. I emailed last month and since then have seen more action with, so far, two personal email responses updating me on what's going on. I recommend emailing as it seems to get someone personally on your case.

I've been informed by VS Marketing, that new Au member packs are now due to start been sent out on Thursday 20th April - but I'll believe this when I actually see mine, as this date has been pushed back several times now (mine is now 5 months over-due BTW [:(!])
