Hello fellow VA fanbuddies[:p]

Just seen a rather nice leather flight bag in M&S with wheels and detacheable laptop case for £135.

Can anyone tell me the exact dimensions of allowed carry on luggae.
This one is 45cm.

Tried search and can't see it[}:)]

It's detailed on Virgin's cabin baggage allowances page, unfortunately the site's down at the moment... [:I]

Upper Class

Upper Class passengers are allowed two pieces of hand luggage, each not larger than 23cm x 36cm x 56cm (9in x 14in x 22 in) overall and not weighing more than 16kg (35lbs) in total. Each item must not weigh more than 8 kilos.

Premium Economy & Economy

You are allowed to carry one piece of hand luggage onto the plane. This must be able to fit under the seat in front of you, which means it must not be larger than 23cm x 36cm x 56cm (9in x 14in x 22 in) and should not weigh more than 6kg (13lbs).

Hope this helps :)

To be fair VS are very flexible when it comes to the dimensions, it'
s the weight of the bag that is where the rules are enforced.

Bigger hand luggage bags tend to be made to be checked in though as passengers generally fill them to the brim bringing them over the weight allowance!

I think you should be fine. I've only rarely seen VS cut up about carry-on sizes and the issues tend to be with those that manifestly won't fit into the overheads or are obviously very heavy.

Incidentally, in Upper Class I have never had my hand baggage weighed, which is just as well as this damn IBM uber-laptop is well over the weight allowance when packed with all the rest of my electronics.

Oh, and happy birthday!

I had my laptop bag weighed on a flight from LHR-JFK last year (economy). Luckily just under the 6kg limit. Flying back from SFO, they just saked if it was a laptop bag I was carrying and made no further checks on it.
Can't say I've ever seen anyone measuring luggage before, so a couple of inches shouldn't cause any problems - surely it's too late once it's onboard anyway?
