Success has happened in our household we managed to contact VA again, and they have given us the upper deck PE seats, this has only taking 5 phone calls.

My question is if we are on the upper deck do we have to wait until everyone is off the plane before we can get off, or do we get off first.

I know it is a dumb ?

Just getting a little too excited fly in 4 weeks. :D

It's not dumb. With the queues at immigration these days its a pretty relevant question. IIRC Upper Class go first, then it's you! So not too much of a wait.

UC and PE usually filter off together, we were the 3rd and 4th persons off the plane last year at MCO and were in PE upper deck, row 80! Economy is held back until UC and PE are clear.

On my flight from MCO I was on upper deck PE and was the first person off the plane - get in there! Assert your authority and crack on, I say! ;)

I guess it must depend on plane configuration. With the LGW configuration you can legitimatly hold back PE as you can simply block the stairs. But then there are only 14 UC pax max anyway so who cares.

With the LHR configurations it would be kind of difficult to prevent the PE pax on the upper deck from disembarking without holding up the UC sleep zone. Interstingly though it is another reason to be on the upper deck in PE as the main deck PE pax are normally held back.

I just returned from JKF on the upper deck (row 73) and I was abt the 8 person off the plane - so the PE in upper seem to get off before the UC passangers!

I have known Rows 21 to 23 (Y) on the LGW planes to be out before myself in UC - not sure how they can avoid this. Get down the stairs quickly from PE and you will be amongst the first.

Yep, I agree. 74C here, straight up when the seat belt sign goes off, grab your bag, straight down the stairs, first off the plane :D

Just don't take any oversized hand luggage that won't fit in the PE luggage bins as the staff have to put it in the wardrobe thing at the back of the upper deck. If they are a bit slow retriving it, it delays you getting down the stairs and off.

If I see you do that on my next flight to MCO I will trip you up:D
One of my pet peeves as I have expressed before.

I find that faking a sneezing fit on the way back from the far east pushes you to the front of the queue and off very effectively. [:$][:o)]

Well, obviously preference didnt exisit on my last flight with VS, as I beat both UC and PE pax off the plane! Row 23 in Y, great for quick exits!

If you're in PE its normally a long enough walk at JFK (past all those mad pictures that move) to hot foot it past some of the UC PAX who may have got off first.
Only to find massive queues from Kuwait and Aerosvit in front..

I flew to MCO in 2004 just after the 3 big hurricanes. As Virgin had cancelled a number of flights they were taking backup crews across to fly cancelled flights back. They let the crews off of the plane first, I had been chatting to a crew member on the way across and she said follow me, which I did and got off the plane and through immigration very quickly. Very lucky.

Y should be held back until W and J are off, but it's a free for all when it's a 747 in terms of the upper deck.

I don't mind sauntering off - i represented my county in 400m - no-one beats me to the immigration queue even if you were in J and i was 64F !

Now that's a challenge and a half - although with my short legs you'd probably win!

The Y cabin in the B Zone on the LGW are the luckiest (particularly on the MCO route) they always have beaten UC and PE off, except once when there was nearly a fight as some lady in the Y section had her husband on one aisle and her on the other unloading their overheads when she turned to all the UC passengers and said 'well you don't get anything special now for all that money' some old chap and his wife nearly had a fit!!

Thats not a nice thing to do to a lady Paul - and on LGW planes you cant help but be first off ahead of the UCS passengers.

Anyway today on the VS006 I was first off!!!!

Get in there!!!!!!

Yay, just grab your bag and run down the stairs and you are off first.

If you arrive at an airport at a busy time, it makes little difference whether UC or PE get off first as the number of people in front of you is a very small proportion of the others in front of you. Also, if you're at a far off gate, quick PE pax can overtake those in UC.

Cheers,
