Beverly Hills Hotels

Any thoughts and recommendations for high-end hotels in Beverly Hill's? Going in October and the significant other thinks the Beverly Hills Hotels sounds cool ...

I think you answered your question in the title of the thread;)

Seriously though, I really do think you should go for the Beverley Hills Hotel - if you're looking for somewhere to stay in that area, it's the place to be.[y] (although I am a bit more of a santa monica kind of person myself[:p])

VS.

Not Beverly Hills, but The Hotel Belair is about as good as they get.Regent Beverly Wiltshire is a cracking location but not in the same class as the former.

Not stayed in either.. but have admired the Beverly Wilshire from outside (and in Pretty Woman).

Well I would say that VS45 has it about right,each hotel has it's own little quirk's,my own personal fav from the late 90's is Peninsula,however from what I am hearing down the grape vine it is now in need of a re-model...are you stuck on Beverley Hill's or would you be prepared to go south where you will find a lot nicer hotel's for the money?

Down at Dana Point you will find a few hotel's that offer the same level of service,with nicer room's and to me a far better area for a trip.

Thanks for thoughts - have decided on the Peninsular because the reservations people at the BHH were incredibly snotty and I form opinions fast based on such things (and that also comes from someone who can also be very snotty on occasion!). It's a shame, I have an emotional attachment to the BHH because my parents lived in it for several years in the 50s. Also the rooms at the Peninsular have been remodelled.

I stayed at the Regent Beverly Wiltshire last year. I would not recommend it. It was fab to be able to say i stayed there, and the service was very good, but i honestly think that there are much better hotels that it. I think it thrives on its reputation and the Pretty Woman connection a little too much. The rooms were not that big, they were overpriced and the amenities were much below what i would have expected. Similarly, the bar and restuarants were overpriced IMHO, and im someone who is usually quite happy to splash the cash on trips.

If i had a choice? The Pen! No questions! Having experienced the Pen in Honkers and Bangkok, its a no brainer!

[|:)] if you want to enjoy the Beverly Hills Hotel, you can always reserve a table at the Polo Lounge (outside in the patio) for Sunday brunch - it is so great for people watching - we were there for my birthday in December, and at the table on one side of us was Michael Caine (my mother-in-law chatted to Michael for quite some time) and at the table to the other side of us was Kirsten Dunst... [:w]

No worries!

If you want to see pictures of the hotel or anything, feel free to give me a shout. Cant recall what i booked, i think it was a deluxe room but i got upgraded to what was supposed to be a huge suite but sadly it failed to impress. I think my recent stays at Asian hotels had kind of impaired my judgement on service and quality, and after the Pen in HKG, well, there was no comparison .

Thanks for the thoughts, am writing in this from my 50s styled hotel in hot Palm Springs. Very different to the Peninsula which was exceptional in every regard. The room was divine, the service superlative from everyone we came into contact with - even had the Rolls Royce Phantom to take us to Spago (and back) on Thursday evening - when it pulled up everyone on the street stopped to look, sadly to see little ole us pile out! What interested me was that yes, the basic price was very high, but the extras were not. For example the minibar prices were less than I've paid for in Marriotts, having a pot of coffee delivered each morning was less that the price of going to Starbucks. Breakfast was a fraction of what some mid range European hotels charge.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again, my advice is not to go for a standard room, but stretch to a Grand Deluxe or higher. We had a GD and it was suite sized.
