Why not? the idea of in flight internet is great,as long as somebody doesn't figure out that they can do VOIP call's resulting in them being stuffed in the over head locker it would be great.

So will the wireless be free by any chance or is it still pay via T-Mobile?

I did a skype call on Lufthansa - it was very strange indeed - quality was high and my family couldnt really believe I was airborne

Im sure it was very irritating to those around me....

Totally. Wireless internet is quiet, private and harmless. Mobile phones or VOIP are intrusive, often loud and public. YES to the former, resounding NO to the latter.

I tend to agree, though unfortunately you don't get one without the other. Convergence seems unstoppable.

On a related, but different, note - am I the last person to have seen this? I've generally avoided paying for mobile wireless unless it's been unavoidable, because the prices have been so stupid. But £11.99 a month for unlimited use from a large scale provider like The Cloud seems pretty good and, if the model works, it'll put pressure on the likes of BTOpenzone and T-Mobile to stop taking the mick on prices. Any thoughts?

Best wishes

David

Still T-Mobile... the clue is in the release "enabled a public Internet service provider to supply wireless access to it's Upper Class passengers".

I've not tried out the wi-fi in the Clubhouse since the extension was completed.

(Shouted by the guy next to you on VS001) "Hi...I'm on a plane...yes that's right...yes 36,000 feet...I'll be home in about 4 hours...Oh, I don't mind really, maybe pizza...no problem I pass a garage that sells milk on the way home...Love you too...yes, kiss kiss...kiss."

Please, PLEASE do not let this happen to our planes!

If anyone thought noise from the Onboard bar was bad - Is this a taste of worse things to come !!!!!!! Help

solution - May be like the train and have a quiet cabin - preferably the whole aircraft at least you wont get " Hello.... Hello.... Hello can you hear me..... Sorry that was a tunnel"

I flew on a swanky new Asiana B777 from Shanghai to Seoul that had the Beoing Connexions system installed.... Unfortunately I was still recovering from a Virgin induced hangover, and couldn't make out if it was going to cost me or not, so my laptop stayed firmly in the overhead and I played with all the buttons on the seat adjustment instead... I wish i'd tried it now, if only to skype all my friends from 35000ft ;)

I did see this, but last time I was in the clubhouse (30/06) it was still T-Mobile. And that REALLY annoys me. The lounge is great, but after paying so much money for a UC ticket, to have to pay for wireless is a real bummer [n]

As for wifi on the plane, fine, so long as it is restricted to data only. And yes, you can stop VOIP, either in the configuration of the system, or by mandating it - preferably both.
