I'm in a bit of a dilema. I have booked 4 reward flights LHR-SFO-LHR for myself and family, two UC with miles only, one PE with miles only and one PE miles upgrade from econ. I am now in a position to upgrade the two PE tickets to UC as I have enough miles in my account. My question is wheteher FC will allow me to do this subject to availability. I know I'll have to contact them but some tips and thoughts beforehand would be very welcome.
If you have the miles and there is G avail on the flights, they will charge you a fee (IIRC 25 quid or 50US) plus the miles. Pretty pain free.
Good point Paul. I assumed he was doing my tactic of booking a PE or Y award and upgrading inside the seven day period. IIRC there is no fee is there is not a change of flight or date (so a pure upgrade). I only have been charged when I change flights (and airports) to get UCS. And back in the ole' days they basicaly canceled your booking if there was an online booking bonus and rebooked at the high rates and added the fee if you switch dates and flights.
Honestly compared to other airlines that do not allow changes after departure and charge more for changes to award tickets, VS is a good deal.

How far in advance are we talking here?
To be honest, when I read that you wanted 6 reward seats, I was about to be impressed if VS released them outside of 7 days before the flight... [:?][:0]
Er, correct me if I'm wrong but he is only wanting to upgrade 2 seats to UC. He already has booked 2 reward seats in UC and he is seeking to upgrade the 2 PE seats.
My advice is keep contacting FC
Spot on Honey Lamb, I have a total of 4 seats booked, 2 UC and 2 PE. I booked them before christmas and now I would like to upgrade the PE's oneway as I have more miles available. We don't travel until August so still a while to go. FC representative advised trying on the day of departure but would you advise phoning a few days before as well?
