My first ever UC flight was on the J2000 and I was so impressed by the space, the level of service (actually using my name), someone taking time to explain about the Freedom Menu in detail, asking that if I were asleep when tea was due to be served, would I like woken up, and making a note of it! He even offered to put my window blind down for me! This and many more little things seem long gone now - oh yes, the clotted cream scone and jam with sandwiches for tea, have never ever been beaten since then. Happy days.

I do agree though for night time flights, the new UCS is far more comfy, though the day flights I really enjoyed the recline of the J2000, and yes, service was better in those days.

j2000 seats were cool [y] and the whole experience was better then. plus you were next to the person you are traveling with.

the ricaro seats were terrible tho - i complained about them and we got 10000 miles free each - used to fly LAX-LHR and then flew out of maccarran the 1st time a few yrs back when they still had the R seats.

so just always fly pe now.

The range of "extras" in UC has indeed, sadly, declined -- as it seems to have in nearly every other public conveyance.

Speed reading suggested 'convenience', and I thought, we're the lavatories bigger and did the bean counters reduce those too?

Hear hear we are not flying Hindenburgs or similar other highly inflammable flying creations ... just the hot air of V-Flyer should keep us afloat.
