In my time I have chatted and used forums on a number of web sites where there have been subjects that interested me. I believe its fun to swap information and ideas about something that is either your hobby or interest or where there is an information exchange.

The great thing about V-flyer is not just that it is well designed, easy to use, easy to find information and allows people to do all of those above but it also has a really good "feel" to it . This comes from the people who use and contribute to it. Ive been proud to be a member of the site and like to give back some of what its given me.

So are we obsessive - well maybe - but is it enjoyable - most definitely YES!

[y][y][y]

ps thanks to Pete, Richard and all the directors/mods who do such a great job looking after it all!!!![oo]

You are one of the lucky ones Richard. My other half isn't so keen on me being a v-flyer nerd either. But hey, it's what we do isn't it gang?

PS: Do I need to buy a new hat for a v-flyer wedding? :D

I just joined very recently and you guys have just been very welcoming and filled with good info...and you're funny! I've been on other airline sites and this one is the best hands down. No comparison. I've been happy to say "good-bye" United Airlines!!!

I have the same problem, t'other half is moaning at me a lot now when I say, "i'm just going to nip and check v-flyer" i get evil eyes glarring at me and lots of moaning under the breath[V], i think maybe a support group for lonely partners is required, then they can all moan togehter and leave us to enjoy the site [^]

V-flyer is always the first site I go to on the internet. In fact, its generally the only reason I am on the internet;)

I did wonder when I was writing my OP if it was a good thing to post it or not, thought it might make a few V-flyers wonder about how much they use the site, like it did me when I was told last night that I did [:I]

Thank you for stimulating a very interesting debate.

Mrs Buns was very cynical at first (using the word anorak I believe[:w]) but soon changed her tune when she realised all the useful info I was picking up[y][y] As chuck has said, when she got round to meeting fellow V-Flyers she was very impressed with the warmth and friendship she was shown and now lets me get on with it:D:D

BTW I would not use the word obsessed about V-Flyer, I would prefer to describe the experience as infectious[}:)][}:)]

Thanks once again

What would be interesting would be the ratio of men to women who are not 'obsessed' (because none of us are ) but, 'extremely interested' in the goings on of V-Flyer. Personally, I have cut down now & chew gum or suck a lozenge instead of immediately turning to this site - & I have only been a member for a couple of months!

.

Buns - glad you like the topic :) - I try and explain that thanks to this site we have had our 1st PE experience (thanks to the VH £50 offer) and that it is giving me so many tips and advice for future trips but still i get moaned at.

I thought that maybe the V-flyer socials might be of interest, but when I mentioned that the site has "get together's" etc i got a moan about "geeks together talking about planes all the time, how interesting" [V] - I think I am fighting a losing battle and just going to have to ignore him :D

Neil

You are very welcome.

I have to say, I too was very hesitant before attending my first social. I should not have worried as there is a wide and diverse range of people that attend, with the common thread of having an appreciation of travelling with VS, that results in meeting some really good and friendly people.

Rest assured, conversation does not revolve around aircraft numbers, nor indeed the latest style of anorak some may have in their wardrobe;);) Mrs Buns now eagerly looks forward to the social gatherings as she enjoys meeting everyone once again:D

all the best

I must admit they do sound interesting, might have to consider giving one a try sometime (If im welcome that is[:I]), from the pics I've seen on here there seems to be plently of alcohol around and that is a subject I can proudly say I am obsessed with :D

Of course you are. I too have been trying to get the Minister of the Interior to go, but she steadfastly refuses[:#]. Do bring the other half along if you can pursuade him - is drink not a strong enough arguement?

BTW, don't forget, if you are in the area of Maidenhead, there is a social next weekend. And just to reassure you, I know nothing about planes expect that a 346 is prettier to look at than at 343 , and Boeing is better than airbus (deleted as I am just playing!)
