Just heard today that a Virgin Atlantic cabin crew bus was hijacked in Lagos by bandits who forced the bus over onto its side just to rob them. Anyone else know of this? Shocking, to say the least!

Its not true!
There was an incedent there about 2 weeks ago but that was not it.
Dont ask what it is. Its not public knowledge.

It was brought to my attention by someone who'd seen it on another forum, an aircrew forum of some type. Haven't checked it myself, but will do later. Just wanted to see if anyone here had heard anything at all.
If it's not public knowledge, then why is it being discussed on forums which are available on the web? Hardly a private conversation is it?

I should think that with a line like that questions are off. Consider what it might mean before pursuing [B)]

Errm - surely its better to say nothing rather than say "there was someting but I cannot tell you" - all that does is add fuel to the fire and make people inquisitive.

As Jetwet said - if something happened then we all hope that anyone involved is OK.

As VITB said there was an incident of some description it was not what the OP posted viz; that report is incorrect, therefore it is not being discussed on another forum, in this instance.

VITB has made it clear that VS do not wish this discussed in public so I suggest we respect those wishes and do not give VITB a hard time.

If the information leaks out and it becomes public knowledge I am sure we will be one of the first sites to hear about it.

Whatever it is, it sounds pretty serious, so I for one am happy to leave it at that and not pursue the matter any more.

The "incident" in Lagos was not a hijacking.

The crew bus was involved in a road traffic accident. A car smashed into the side of one of the crew vans, causing it to turn over.

Several crew were injured, thankfully not seriously.
One of my friend was crew on the bus, so I have it first hand what actually happened. So stop silly rumours!!

Nice to have that clarified.

I am sure people on this particular site are interested because they care as opposed to want to gossip or speculate.

VSCSS, thank you for posting the facts of the matter, we trust your disclosure does not compromise any internal VS directive regarding the incident in qustion?

We are pleased to learn that no one was seriously injured in the accident and wish your friend and his/her co-workers a speedy recovery.

Barry.

Thanks for clarifying that. Glad to hear no-one was seriously hurt. I wasn't trying to spread silly rumours, just wanted some clarification. If it had been a hijacking, it would have been big news and probably force VS into thinking about their policy for the Nigeria route. Anyway, we've been put straight, so I think this matter is closed, agreed?

Hmmm...was told by crew member two days ago that the bus was in a traffic accident and fell over or pushed over--and was surrounded and kicked and pushed but there were guard vehicles accompanying so all was okay but v scary..

GJ whilst we like to encourage healthy debate here on V-Flyer we aren't trying to start sparring contests. Maybe you should post in a less provocative manner?
