I just saw this on another site, that the Frequent Virgins Club is closing to new members from 7 Aug 06 see here. Does anyone have any further details? I would need to book an extra trip in order to join!

As you already get 10% off at VH for being a FC member, are the other benefits worth it? I don't drive so for me it would depend on what the hotel offers were.

It will be interesting to hear what (if anything) is put in its place. Certainly the value of the 10% discount has been eroded by a combination the "standard" 5% internet discount, the availability of the FC discount and the credit card surcharge, but it will be a real shame to lose the dedicated service number.

Let's hope the "changes as part of Virgin Holidays commitment to its loyal customers" are not from the same brains trust that came up with the UC amenity pack changes.

For me that seems the only really useful benefit and as we are VS Frequent flying club members we get that anyways, wonder if maybe too many people joining and getting the 10% off[:?]

It was mentioned last year that the FVC would get a much needed refresh, so this looks like the start of it.

Thanks Nick - I struggled on that.[y] Although I have lurked for a bit it was my first post here, having been lured from the Dibb board.

As well as the 10% you get free car hire upgrades and supposed to be special hotel offers too though I have no idea what those are - if they are any good.

And another hello from me.

I've never taken advantage of the hotel offers or the general "club" benefits (socials etc). The car hire upgrade did put me behind the wheel of a shiny new convertible on my first trip to CA though...[8D]

Welcome Halo, thanks for posting the link, that is interesting.

I am sure Sarz (who runs the FV Loyalty Program for VH) will post here when she feels able to share further information with us.

I am must say the recent 10% discount days have eroded the FVC benefits so hoping there is an incentive for loyal customers that is better than has been of late.

Thanks for the welcome everyone [y]

EGG - interesting choice of occupation. I guess you get to expense some of your trips stateside to keep abreast of developments :) Spot on with your philosophy.

Our loyalty club has been the same since it started 14 years ago so we have decided its time for a change!!! We need to start reconising our members more - so while we sort this out we have stopped applications, while we decided what to do next..... we are currently finalising the details but please be assured that we will mail all our current members by the end of november ..............so watch this space.

The current benefits still stand 10% discount/free car upg and benefits at selected hotels.

:D

Hi Sara,

Thanks for keeping us updated. Look forward to seeing how VH decide to recognise their loyal customers a touch more. Seems that most people believe that the online discount has devalued the club, I am glad that VH are responding to customer feedback. Do you have any clues while we are waiting???!! [:p]

I made a mental note to check this topic around this time because of the comment about e-mailing all FVC members by the end of November. Can't help notice that sarac's posted has been deleted. In fact, if it hadn't been included in tallprawn's post, one would never have known that it had ben made in the first place.

Strange huh?

Incidentally, I've heard nothing yet about the 'more recognition for members' alluded to above. Has anyone else?

I spoke to someone at V Hols the other week about FVC and the way things are going. Things are still progressing at the moment. They are still throwing ideas around but I don't think we will see much happen this year now.

Anyone had any hints on what might be happening with the FVC. It seems to have been in the melting pot for a long time now :)

This is the bit of blurb off the VH FVC page:

When will we be told what's changing?

We are currently finalising the details of the new club - once this information has been confirmed we will communicate this to all our current members by the end of April 2007.

and this

Q. Will you contact me with details of the new club?

A. All existing members who have made a booking with Virgin Holidays in the last 4 years will receive a letter or email from us detailing the new club benefits. All communications will be received by April 30 2007

So I guess something will be along soon??

Hi

Got a letter saying the FVC club has made some changes but our old membership has expired as we haven't booked through VH in 4 years.

Its also fairly ironic that they send us the letter during a period of time when we should have been in Barbados with VH but had to cancel the holiday as they booked us into the wrong place.

Anyway, looks like information now available on VH website.
