Im am so p***** off "them2 telling us we are "sinners" - if you dont like it go somewhere else.

Exactly. If it's so terrible living here, I don't see a single person forcing them to stay, or be part of life here.

Understand people are frustrated but really don't think this is the right place to vent them.

But it is an aviation issue if they are trying to blow up planes out of the sky. OK I wont bring it up anymore but I am definite not alone in my thoughts - IM not being raciest but pointing out a simple issue

I didn't actually see anyone mention race colour or religeon,
but it is a fact that people determined to kill and maime in such a cowardly way, basically for the purpose of makeing news headlines for a particular cause could be considered as something less than human, and its also true that these people do not discriminate on what race, colour or religeon when it comes to killing, they just take out whoever is in the vicinity.

I am sure people do agree with your views porsche, but the point of this site is not to discuss our personal opinions on other relgions etc, we have to be careful, just because some of these people decide they want to act this way does not mean the whole of that religion agrees with them.

There is a fine line and we have to be careful not to cross it.

Since when is blowing yourself up cowardly? Severely misguided yes. But a lot braver than smart missiles from 40,000 ft.

Ok,morning news is saying for trans-atlantic flights LAX/LAS/SFO etc instead of 2 hrs check-in expect 4-5 hr,domestic 3-4 hrs, look's like the TSA is locking things down as well.

JFK must be a total mess by now [:#].

I'm sorry people but some of these comments are becoming very close to the mark and are not aviation related.

Those arrested, as anyone in this country is, are innocent until found guilty by a court of law, that is what makes this country in my opinion so great.

Secondly we have not yet, and will not find what the direct plan (if any) was.

Please keep this to the aviation and not the political/race/religious or legal issues as any one of us could one of these days be called to sit on a jury.

I can now see some 'smalls' (757s and 737s of BA and BD) flying into LHR, so hopefully some order is resuming.

On the hand luggage issue however, I do hope this is sorted v soon. I'm due to fly to the US week after next and bore that I am, seven hours with nothing to do is a haven for trying to unentangle the nightmare that is my Outlook inbox ... I always get a lot done on board. Also iPod and my QCs are much better than the VS mix of music and headphones ... who else is going to find this very different/difficult to get used to? We're all going to have to buy secure hold laptop bags too ... perhaps one of the staffers can say how these things are being placed in the hold currently (classic entry for our new friend Biggles, but I guess he's in manic mode).

I understand that feelings are running high, they would have been a lot worse if the terrorists had been successful.

Most Muslims are decent, hardworking, law abiding people, like most people of every other faith. The so called "Radicalised Muslims" who believe in converting, forcefully or otherwise the western world to their idea of Islam are in the minority, we should help to keep them there!

If we lower ourselves to their level and start to victimise the ordinary Muslim we are doing exactly what they want; we are doing their bidding for them - we will be the ones that force more young muslim men into the Al Queida training camps.

As I said before there is no easy answer.

We are not a forum for religious or racial debate so whilst I can understand that feelings are running high, I would ask that we do lot let this thread degenerate into a religious or racial argument and simply look at the implications for air travel which is why we are here.

Here Here!

Nor, I might add, has the religion of any of the arrested people been reported by the authorities. For the moment it is just speculation, informed I admit, but still speculative.

Mmm I stand by all my posts being that religeon, race etc were not mentioned in them.

And I still think "terrorists" blowing people up or planning to harm others that are just going about their normal daily lives not being a threat to anyone are cowardly no matter what particular gripe they have.

Ditto, Decker. I'm travelling the opposite way from EWR next thursday. I just hope the restrictions are less when going to the UK, as all of the news I have read seems to be if you are travelling from the UK.

Even if I am forced to put my iPod, camera, books, etc. in the hold, the way I look at this situation is that I would much prefer to wake up (as I just have) and to hear this news, than to wake up and hear that 6 airliners have just blown up over the Atlantic.

Agree EGG, and your right as non of your posts have been close to the line, but, others have, and we do have to be careful, especially as Bazz has said, nothing concrete regarding who is behind this has been reported.

Changing tack a little bit, the mothers on the Dibb would like to know if their kids will get the iKid stuff, any staff on here know, that means they would get some crayons n stuff.

I think one of things they are worried about is that the alleged plotters could have been travelling in groups. So not only would they carry all the components disassembled/unmixed, but that the components themselves could be spread across the 2 or 3 members of the group, making it look even more innocuous.

Whilst I am a supporter of the strict security and screening that has been imposed over the past few years, I am very sceptical of the implementation. It tends to be more "for show" than for actual effect. As was briefly touched on earlier, passengers were banned from taking on nail files and sharp items, yet in every UK airport that I travelled through over 5 years, there was a Boots shop airside, which had a large promotional Gillette Mach 3 stand. So I would hand in my nail clippers and nail file at security, and then at the first shop I passed, I could buy 300 razor blades with the knowledge that there were no subsequent security inspections.

If the authorities are going to implement these security procedures, please make it consistent!

Oh and while I am on my soap box, again if they are really serious about security, improve the management and organisational structure of the TSA/BAA/Airport Security System, and pay an adequate salary to all those security screeners, that they don't have to hire reprobates, so that more competent individuals are willing to apply for the job and be fairly compensated.

Hey Decker - You seem to be the only one in fact with a very open mind regarding todays events - Could I ask? Do you in fact believe that these guys trying to bomb our aeroplanes have in some way a good "reason" or maybe I just have picked up your comments wrong. Hope I did to be honest!
