Just spoken to Premier and have sent Peter a pm - Premier are adamant VS6 will be leaving MIA tonight and that there is an aircraft available out there (do airlines ever tell lies??).She said VS5 was cancelled as BAA have demanded 30% of all flights are cancelled due to situation at LHR still (in terms of stranded passengers) but this will not affect VS6 (but she did say the'll still be problems tomorrow with quite a few flights[:0].)

Well AA refused compensation when we got stuck in Curacao on 9/11.

I wish someone would pay me compensation every time I got stuck in a bottle of Curacao, I'd be a multi-millionaire ;)

Cheers

If the VS6 is operating today, with no VS5 service today it must mean VS (and probably other airlines) are sending empty A/C to the US as positioning flights.

Sounds like it -the lady in premier couldn't say where it was being routed from or if it was already in the vicinity.

Paul,

Nip down to see us, plenty of flights from Zurich to PRN. Scorching hot, off for a swim and the light up the bbq and watch the footie.

Not a bad sunday afternoon [8D]

Hope you get home soon

Ah, to be fair - I'm actually pretty upbeat. Can't fault the lady that sorted me out in Boston. Literally, a handful of people got out on other airlines and I was one of them. Other passengers before and after were absolutely screwed - booked onto flights in 2/3/4 days time [:0]

So, I'm closer to home than any of those poor guys (and myself, had I not got endorsed across) - I'm happy. Tired, but happy ;)

So im guessing the idea of a long weekend in Vegas just didn't seem as good as a weekend in Zurich airport, dude you had a get out of jail free card, even your work or mine when it comes down to it would understand you not being able to get out of the country.

I have a feeling (from an overhead conversation) that it went oversold though Ben. (Although, agreed - at the time it was a nice idea).

BA had cancelled other flights yesterday, and pretty much any seat anywhere was taken.

Paul,
Sorry about that, mate. Hope you enjoyed Boston!

Obviously the authorities must be very concerned about a continuing threat for this many flights to be axed. But why just BA, I wonder?

Thanks Chuck,

The flight cancellations are not related to any security "threat" - it's simply that the airports in the UK cannot handle the ridiculous amount of security scanning that's been going on since last week. They're just cutting capacity so that the airport security areas can keep up.

Next step from the government - naked boarding; you mark my words...

Right - looks like my mercy mission's on time, so I'm off to go find my airborne chariot of loveliness that is Swiss Air. [ii]

Good news I just received and call from VS, saying I should turn up for my flight as normal as VS6 is still scheduled for a 19:25 departure they lady said they are sending a aircraft from London today so I assume that VS5, left London but with out passenger maybe one of the crew can shed some light????

PS: Thank you Dragonlady for your help I really appreciate you taking the time to call the Premier team in London Thank you. [y] [y]

Sounds like you have being having fun Paul - though I'm with Dave, I would have gone for the weekend in Vegas option instead. I remember flying home from Boston a couple of years ago when the flights the day before had been cancelled due to severe weather on the East coast - I actually offered my seat up as I was more than happy to spend another day shopping in BOs, they refused and upgraded me instead!

Does this mean we have Swiss chocolate for EDI next weekend? Lady Sarah will be pleased!

Thanks,
Richard
