I doubt the delay today was all due to the problems caused from last Thursday, I spoke to my friend who works at MAN on Sunday and he said a lot of flight back to normal, with only 1/2 hours delay, maybe just an operational reason for the problem today.

I imagine you can check in and still go back to the Radisson, as long as you make sure you are back through security in plenty of time for your flights original departure time, as things change and you don't want to miss the flight just because youthought it was delayed but it managed to leave earlier.

Talking to my friend again, although he works for BMI, he understands that the reason for the VS delays are due to late incoming aircraft rather than problems at MAN. Maybe because of other operational reasons VS are struggling with getting the a/c in place, maybe some VS staff might know better.

Keep your chin up though!:)

The VS75 left 7hrs and 15 mins late yesterday. Today's is running 6 hours late and operated by the same aircraft. As others have said I very much doubt the a/c will be rotated round with an LGW a/c just to catch up some time at MCO.

Try not to panic as I believe that by saturday the delay should be back to as good as scratch - The weather looks good over the atlantic for some quick sector timings over the next 2 days which should help. Fingers crossed that another spanner isn't thrown into the mix to cause any fresh delays. The a/c is G-VLIP if your interested....

Enjoy your trip.....:D

Thanks Rob, I do hope it catches up by Saturday. Does that a/c have games?

No it doesn't - but you can check on things like that in the aircraft database, here - there's a note of the IFE type and a link to the description on the aircraft page :)

Cheers

Congratulations, triciacarole. I have the utmost admiration for anyone who goes back to college and juggles studying with raising a family - and to get a First on top of it. [^][^][^][oo][oo][oo]

Don't get too wound up about the flight. I have seen people here get really uptight about flights because of postings on here - the debate about the sausages and radioactive mash in UC comes to mind. If you fret about it too much beforehand it will really spoil the experience for you. Just let it wash over you and take any delays as part of the experience. I know delays are not fun but if you can people watch rather than clock watch you will find it more entertaining.

If there are no games on board there will still be films and kids TV for your daughter so relax and enjoy both the flight and the holiday. You've earned it! [^]

As others have said don't panic, just because the a/c currently doing this route does not have games, does not mean the a/c you fly on won't. The a/c ex MAN/LGW are changing all the time and it cannot be predicted which a/c you will fly on, an extra addition to the MAN/LGW fleet has increased the chance of Odyseey IFE (the one with games) so keep your fingers crossed.

I am sure whatever a/c you fly on you will enjoy the experience and then have a great hol.

All three MCO - UK flights were partially delayed again last night - The VS75 won't gain any time today I'm afraid - It won't be back at MAN until just before two o'clock.

VS don't have any options for swapping a/c around as both LGW flights are running 3-4 hours late also.

Understood, I shall go and get my breakfast now :D

BTW what's the chance of Virgin bringing in another a/c to help out with this delay?

In a word - No, VS only operate a small fleet so they don't just have extra a/c to bring in to help out, especially as the operations are trying to catch up with the effects of last weeks delays. Sorry!

They often "unwind" delays when aircraft are brought back out of maintenance - so it could be that an incoming flight is delayed but the flight out is on time bacause its using another aircraft just back from maintenance. The other day when I flew from LHR I saw 2 x A3446's in the VS maintenance area

Just found this from the Virgin website

Departure date 17 Aug 2006
Route Manchester,UK (MAN) to Orlando (MCO)
Scheduled departure time 17 Aug 13:30
Scheduled arrival time 17 Aug 17:40

Perhaps it may help, won't help those on that flight though.
