Lucky you, wish we were going UC, however we are going PE so that good too :D.

I though that perhaps they had cancelled it and were putting the VS75 pax on it but according to MAN arrivals and departures the VS75 flight is not going any earlier; plus if they did this it would really annoy the VS73 pax.

LGW has problems with catching up on delays also - VS would need to re-position an aircraft from LGW-MAN to cover todays extra MAN-MCO (VS73).

If loads are pretty light they have probably condensed all passengers on the VS75 and saved using the extra 744. I think they would prefer to have the spare a/c at LGW to help out the MCO delays down there. :D

Doesn't help all the MAN passengers for the rest of the week, but suppose there are more passengers affected at LGW unfortunately. :)

I am getting really disheartened with Virgin, I stopped using charter flights because of lengthy delays and if this is the case that they are using this A/C for LGW and not MAN I am even more disappointed [:(]

Try not to get too down hearted with VS - I am sure they are trying to do their best for all passengers at LGW and MAN. The situation isn't really their fault given all the extra security checks which they need to abide by. The delays hopefully will be ironed out in the next couple of days - It may not come quick enough for your outbound though.... [:#]

I will try not to let it get me down [:(] I am just wondering what I can do to ease the pain of the delay, has anyone got any suggestions? Can I check-in and then go for a mooch around the other terminals (landside of course)?

AFAIK you can check-in and go wherever you like - so long as you are back in time to get through security and to the gate 60 mins before your flight. I'm sure someone will advise if I've not got this right :)

I wouldn't bother looking at other terminals landside at MAN though. Every single one of them is dreadful with very little to do.

Afraid that you don't have too many options tbh, just try and make sure you are as prepared for the delay as possible, books, iPod/PSP, things to keep the kids entertained. I know its difficult with the current restrictions but a bit of forward planning and you should be ok, and anyway, fingers crossed with the cancelled flight today things might be getting back to normal.

I hope so. It does look like the cancelled flight was used for LGW, but I'm hoping it will be used to bring pax back from MCO to MAN, as these delays are getting even worse, I have just checked the Virgin website and here are the details of today's flight:

the following flight matches your search criteria. Please note that all times listed are local.
Flight number VS 075
Departure date 17 Aug 2006
Route Manchester,UK (MAN) to Orlando (MCO)
Scheduled departure time 17 Aug 10:25
Actual departure time 17 Aug 18:54
Scheduled arrival time 17 Aug 14:35
Estimated arrival time 17 Aug 22:03

Its getting scary [:0]

Have to admit - thats a bad delay - but as as already been said Im sure VS is doing all it can to bring this flight back to schedule.

Im sure you will be watching for the 76 to depart MCO on Friday evening - but as I said earlier in the thread sometimes VS will bring in an aircraft from maintenance and remove the delay in the schedule.

Stay in touch with VS and give them a call on Saturday morning before you set off to check - you can at least ask them if things are on schedule or whats happening.

Not sure about the ages of your children but I usually find at Manchester that its worth having a breakfast and a cuppa and then there are shops to wander. Its a good idea to bring whatever bits and pieces keep your children entertained ad has already been discussed. I do like to people watch at airports with a coffee but Im sure having children along makes for a tricky time.

If the flight is severely delayed ( and I hope for you and your clan that its not!) then it can be an option to leave the airport once you are checked in and go home - if you live close enough - or go into Manchester or perhaps go to the Trafford Centre.

The check in staff will advise - but if they are waiting for the 76 then they will have a pretty good idea of when the 75 will leave!!

Leaving the airport is difficult as we are getting a taxi there which we have booked and arranged for it to get us there for 7.30am. My daughters are teens but the problem is that my eldest has a physical disability and I am worried in case she starts feeling unwell with the wait. I have checked our seating and Virgin have been very good and allocated us the bulkheads but it is a very long day for her with just the flight let alone these delays. I have had a look at the VS76's details for tonight and at present it is not showing too much of a delay, it appears to be departing before VS75 is due in so fingers crossed this is correct and they have brought in another a/c.

Looks like VS ops have switched the return a/c and G-VLIP will be sent back to LGW - result for you!!!!

G-VROS will operate the VS76 tonight back to MAN. It left LGW this morning as the VS15 on schedule......

Looks like you won't be trying to kill 6-7 hours at MAN afterall. [y]

Glad to see that the routes gonna be on time for the weekend.

Triciacarole if you do suffer a dealy may I suggest that you try one of the lounges at MAN. I know that they're not that good but if you've flown from T2 before you will find that it is utter rubbish with nothing to do.

Good luck for an on-time departure anyway and enjoy your holiday[y]

I will add to this and I do agree. The lounges are nothing special but T2 will most likely be very busy, if you can stretch to pay for th elounge it's worth it. I know if my status/ticket doesn't warrant access we'll always pay to get in to the lounge at MAN as we hate MAN airport terminals!

If you have an egg card access your acc and book through the links thye have in cash back to get 50% off your lounge access.

Don't worry about the lounges Triciacarole, the VS76 is due back at MAN at 08.45 this morning so it looks like you won't require them.:D

It did pick up a small delay again at MCO - The differing setup of MCO maybe causing more security check isssues than at other US Airports.

Regardless of this, you should be fine for a departure tommorrow with an hour or two of the scheduled time... [y]

Just to add to what has already been said, my mate who works at MAN said the VS guys were expecting things to be back to normal from Sat, they had no option earlier in the week to make any changes with a/c operating ex MAN/LGW but obviously as mentioned above they have now managed to sort it out.

Hope you have a great flight and holiday, and don't forget the TR when you are back;)
