Hi Guys - Gotta tell you about what happened to me on the above forum. I simply had a heading VS UC or BA Club to Shanghai- Asked a simple question on the site which one was best - Got some really helpful information and announced that I would then be picking UC ( booked yesterday) - Well then the abuse started from so called BA card members - I do believe they cannot cope with somebody saying that UC is better
Well they are rather rude snobs at that. Started slagging of my handle saying they would have only expected somebody with a name such as "porsche911" to basically go down to the level of "using uc" - oh I could have got stuck into them but could not be bothered - shower of ***ts
Hi Keith
If you are referring to this thread, i think their gripe was with your re-posting rather than your original query. Some of the arguments given between BA Club and VS Upper are quite reasonable really.
We have a good relationship with FlyerTalk, its the original birthplace of this forum
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah
I know I made an error and reposted that thread, but come on , some of them were basically rude bastards. They do not own the forum - One of the moderators told me what I had done and I said sorry and had not ment to do this - he said thats fine - but for some of the other geeks - honestly , I was very annoyed. ahh , feel better after that

Ah, they'll take no prisoners over at FT if you break the rules and wind them up. Sadly they do own the forum in the same way we own this one, its their forum and they set the rules to be followed, albeit they operate far harsher than we do.
Dont take it personally

Thanks,
Sarah
If I were you I might feel a little wounded, though independently reading I thought it was pretty robust in all directions and quite humorous too, though Dombar's comment was particuarly crushing [V]
V-Flyers as a rule seem to be more relaxed, humorous and polite, and that's probably why we're here and not on BA

There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles

At the end of the day you choose where you want and you post where you want and if you like the forum you are on then you will be encouraged to contribute.
There's that many forums (fora?) out there that there are plenty of places to have your say - I guess its finding one thats relevant to you!!
I like VF coz its great people and a great community and I think we have a good balance of serious posting and good humour[y]

on the other hand when i asked the same question here i got, serveral
friendly and good replies, so thank vflyer

Humour? You mean like your A Team Post;), Lol - seriously though I have looked FT quite a bit but did not like the "vibe" it gave off, V-Flyer is much better[y][y]
just don't ask them whats the best seat in First class,it will certainly unleash a pack of rabid dogs:D
The humour on the BA board can be rather black and cutting, entertaining non the less.People seemto be a lot more tolerant on here.
I must say I have been given cracking info from a lot of people on FT. I usually ask a specific question by PM and have been rewarded with spot on info on some fairly complicated ticketing and itinery queries.

Wow, they are a bit upperty over there. Well some of them anyway!
It reminds me of a Universal Orlando forum I read from time to time. It is full of mainly 14-20year old lads who have a go at each other for the slightest of reasons! Try posting a thread twice over there and see what happens!!! A fair bit worse that the 'that's bad form' from the flyer talk forum!

Jaguarpig is right; there are some very smart people on the BA forum over at FlyerTlak. I've had the pleasure of meeting several of them in person at various FT events over the last 6-7 years.
They have their rules and own sense of humour, one of cynicism, sarcasm and 'take no prisoners', but then I like that and have at times have been crying at some of the wit displayed.
Some of them are members on here too.
I've read the thread and there were some very helpful, constructive views given. But yes there were some that could be taken in offense.
Thanks,
Richard

Hmm...
Just looked at all this and read it with much interest. Posting the same question well into the thread just because you didn't get the required responses is indeed a bit off, and your level of arrogance seemed to ramp up perfectly with theirs in the end!
But that's just my opinion.

John

I tend to agree with Richard here. Most of the first members of V-Flyer migrated over from FT in the early days. It is a great site with a tremendous amount of knowledge to share.
V-Flyer has grown into a community of travellers, a lot of whom are far less frequent flyers than those who inhabit FT. Whilst it is often frustrating when someone comes onto the board and asks a question that has been asked MANY times before and the answer is available in the FAQs, the poster will usually receive a number of helpful replies.
As others have said, if you ask a complex or unusual question on FT, especially the BA board, you will receive helpful replies. Ask a question that can be easily researched, or found be searching, then you will be given short shrift.
The humour on the BA board is often sharp and clever, but some of them address posters as if they are the hired help. [}:)][8D]

Your brave saying that!, you actually took the word out of my mouth, I wasn't going to type it myself though after last time we disagreed on something[B)].

But it wasn't. The OP started an identical thread with the same title asking exactly the same questions. This was later merged into the old thread to create what you have today and this was despite getting some pretty decent responses in the original thread. What gives?
I'd say it is pretty poor form on any IBB to cross post or beginning new topics when your query has been answered just a couple of weeks before. It is etiquette and the way the game is played. If I go into my golf club and start chanting on my mobile phone I'm going to get yelled at by members. I know the rules both in my golf club and on IBBs so I play by them. Personally coming back here and whining because you wanted to play the game your way is equally pathetic IMO. [:I]

Maybe because throughout that thread a number of people had asked about AA First Class, both on the AAdvantage forum and on the long thread in the Mileage Run forum and it had been explained ad nauseum.
Over here people are likely to give you answers because the question doesn't come up every day. I suspect if you came here asking about your first trip in Upper Class you'd get a similar response.
Some of you may be aware I am primarily a Flyertalk poster, but under a different handle and I'm not scared to criticise it. I just believe that people who spend not very much time there are too easy to slam members for being rough on the newbies asking the same questions for the 427th time because they aren't willing to read stickies, FAQs or spend twenty seconds using the search engine (and I am aware at times it is temperemental).
Thanks

I dont use Flyertalk so can only comment on my experiences here and I would agree that new members will often not use the site facilites to help themselves - but there has to be some leeway - far better to help someone with an answer or link and also explain the search facility in the hope that this will help them next time - than "slam" them for asking the obvious "Do Virgin fly from Manchester" question!!
As I said - cant comment on FT but I do think that one of the alluring things of VF is that we dont "slam" a newbie immediately.
[:o)] That's the first time i've taken any notice of FT. And I must say it is just like PPRUNE for its jumped up self important arrogance, which is why i love lurking there watching the petty bickering!
Still, I notice a number of familiar names from PPRUNE so that probably explains the similar attitudes.
But I must admit I am shocked and horrified to find so many of our loyal friends from here over on FT saying nice things about the darkside!!!!
Do BA really have two flights a day now to PVG? hmmmmmm[:?]
