No need to 'slam' anybody. Be polite. This is an internet forum, not an executive business meeting to where you have to try and bully everyone to get to the top of the ladder!
You can be helpful and point out forum facilities, double posts etc without the agro.:D

I think people on a forum gain a hell of a lot of respect from me if they are willing to help, even if my questions might sound a bit lame or obvious, that to me is a sign of a well rounded professional.

Fortunately this site fits that catagory perfectly.

An answer to a dumb sounding question along with a polite pointer to where to look for things is all thats needed.

Can't say anyones ever slammed me on FT but I have read some answers to what for a first timer might be a legit question and thought "poor Sod".

V-Flyer attracts me because it has experts on it who also come accross as friends and show an interest in the member as well as the question.

Hey guys thanks for all your support - I simply asked a question - made an error by double posting (I admit that) and have to listen to a load of tossers thinking they are god - nOt a chance - V flyer is simply miles ahead with decent folk not eating the ass off you if you step a little out of line in error - as for the comments from Speedbird - Hey mate maybe we should meet up and have a personel chat about you point of view - "Joke" -- honestly thanks all and will remain a loyal member of vs now for life -- Will anybody on this forum be on that flight to shanghai on the 23rd sept

But that's just my opinion.

Ditto.

I think the only difference between here and there is that people here will tollerate breaks in netiquette (but only for a while). Certainly some of the responses were overly personal (the porshe comments), but only the 2 out of all the many responses. And I would say your post in reply to MCS was clearly escalating, and as such you should have expected what you got. As MCS said, quite reasonably I might say, the TOS of f-talk are pretty clear, as is the netiquette. It is also interesting that many of the critisms being made were similar to those made of your original posts here.

It is also interesting you bring your grievance here. To what purpose one may ask, given this is a VS forum - did you want us to say "there, there, don't worry about those nasty people"?. And of course many f-talkers visit here too (and visa versa). I am somewhat embarrassed that they will see me as having recommended you there, only for it to end up in such kerfuffle.

Chill Porsche911, the whole point of the thread was how much more accepting VF is of people then FT and how we are a friendly bunch who can accept other peoples POV without getting into a heated discussion, lets not ruin the illusion now;)

Indeed - it would be wise for all parties concerned to calm down and stop trying to inflame the situation.

This ends your friendly pre-topic-lock warning

Cheers

Blimey is this still going on. I cant believe a double posting caused so much agro. Must say I will never go to FT if that is their attitude. IMHO the forum isnt just there for old regulrs but is there for new people and as someone mentioned earlier a gentle nudge in the direction of where to find answers is better than the snidey comments. Isn't there enough intolerance in the world already?

In any case, your posting about BA retaining F received many mature responses and stimulated an interesting discussion even though it was pretty close to another thread on when will BA introduce a new F started at the same time. No grudge holding for sure.

Talking about which, there was talk about 2/3 years ago about VS introducing F, possibly with cabins (now taken up be EK). How about starting one up here on VS forum or has it been done before? I suspect the answer would be no on commercial grounds unless there is a secret plan for the A380!
