I'm only a silver card holder so can't get my hands on my kids miles. They've just each collected about 18k for return UC to Cuba, so it's worth my while trying to figure out a way...

Would it be possible for example for them to sign up to a hotel account like Starwoods, transfer their miles to Starwoods and then enter my frequent flyer number as if it was their on the Starwoods site and transfer back again to virgin but of course actually end up with them in my account?

Any clever ideas out there???

With their permission, when you come to book a reward, you can spend their miles. FC will probably want to talk to them to do this.

Parental warning : You should ask the account holder's permission before stealing miles from a minor's account.

I'd be kinda swapping them for the promise of having a quick chat with father christmas on their behalf... and if that's doesn't work I can do a dead squeeky voice using helium!!!!

Thanks for the advice about calling VA, I didn't know they even consider allowing it.

Last year we wanted to use some miles from my and Aer John's miles to book a reward flight for someone. We did this by calling VS and Aer John (who is a minor) spoke to the agent and gave permission for the miles to be deducted from his account. No problem at all.

You are much better off following Sailor99's advice than going via a third party loyalty program - generally speaking each time you change from one program to another you will devalue your holding by 10% to 50% depending on the rules in force at that time.

Stock up on the Hellium ;)

I thought that I read somewhere that VS allowed you to give gifts of miles from your account. Couldn't you just get them to give you a gift?

You can use your miles to buy somebody else a reward, as mentioned in the T&C's from the VS Website here, but you cannot just give somebody some of your miles.

Of course you can always buy some miles as a gift here
