HI,

With all the new baggage rules on size how does this work on backpacks? Reason I ask is my backpack I currently have is just over the size of the hand baggage allowance now. However, unless you ram it totally full of stuff it will easily scrunch down to below the maximum size allowed for hand baggage so should this be OK, or do I have to get a smaller backpack?

Ta!

Providing it'll scrunch to fit inside their guide, you'll be fine. I've just done the same [y]

Also another quickie, can you buy magazines/books/chocolate from airside before boarding and take it on, in addition to your hand baggage? This is for a flight going to LAS.

Yes, you can.

I'm now airside at Manchester, and contrary to others' experiences in London, the security guys were quite sensible about the whole thing.

My Crumpler bag (larger than dimensions) was "crumpled" enough to show that it COULD fit if I really it wanted to. After a little humour on whether I'd be able to get it out of the frame again, I was on my way. No arsiness, no attitude (and no need for an argument, Richard ;))

Everything else is available to buy airside, apart from liquids (on USA flights). The cabin bag limit is PURELY about security screening, NOTHING to do with the aircraft/boarding/anything beyond.

Thanks here too. A lot clearer and not as bad as it could have been. Glad about the disposable contact lenses too.

Is lipbalm available on-board in UC now there are no amenity packs?
