I've looked at the seat rating page, but its not much help.

We've been given 22A & 22C on a 600-con fig2 for our trip to MIA.

Anybody have any experience of these seats?

Thanks in advance
Tim & Chris.

I would be tempted to try and sit a bit further forward if I was you as you will be sat in front of the washroom. The other thing to note is that row 19 doesn't have a window on either side.

I didn't realise 19 didn't have a window - and I'd just updated my booking for my return for Delhi to 19K so I could enjoy the view! I'll change it to 20K, and hope I can see something else besides the wing!

I presume 18 is a bulkhead, held until checkin for babies - does that have a window, and is it worth asking for at checkin? Or might it be available for online checkin?

Have been in the back row of config 2 in PE, albeit in the mddle block of 3 and would have preferred to be further forward and away from the WC.

Yup, you can try and request it at check-in, i have sat in row 18 and its probably the best in PE on the Airbus. The seats definitely have windows - and more leg room :)

Thanks,
Sarah

If you take a look at this photo of a config 2 VS A346, row 19 in PE is where there's no window under the letter 'C' of the Virgin Atlantic logo.

I have no idea why there's no window there though.

I'm going to try and grab row 18 at check-in for my PE A346 flight in December. Currently sat in row 19 going out and row 20 coming back. Can't change seats as PE showing as been full both ways.

Thanks for the quick replies.
Just checked the flight and there are no more pre-bookable seats (two together). We'll get to the airport early and try to get row 18.

What time does check-in open for the MIA flight?.

Thanks again.

You can actually check-in for an LHR flight any time from check-in opening at 06:30, although I read today that BAA are now recommending that you don't check-in more than 3 hours before any flight.

Totally agree, row 18 is great, you get 2 windows too!!! But to get it you will need to be at CI early!

Hope this isn't a daft question but we are booked in 20 A & C as I didnt want 19 because of the windows. Is it the same on config 2 aircraft or are the seats further forward to get the extra row in? I guess we wont know the config until the day - seat map still shows a config 1.

Thanks

Row 20 is in the same place, to get the extra PE row in on the config 2 a/c they have messed around abit with the Y seating arrangement and position on the toilets etc so the rest of the PE cabin stays the same, I am sure row 20 will be great.

I've just been comparing the PE seat maps for both config 1 and config 2 A346's using the VS seat maps.

Config 2 appears to have row 18 (first row in PE) 1 row further forward than the old config 1 cabins. This would make sense as I cannot see VS wanting to move the washroom further back to fit the extra row of PE seats in. If this is the case then I guess the missing window would now be row 20 [:?]

Some of the VS crew would be best to answer this though!!

D'oh - Im Bad, mitchja is totally right and infact the PE on the config 2 could be maybe upto 2 row infront than the config 1 a/c, here is a link to the VS website section that shows the 2 different configs so you can have a look yourself.

Now I am confused...! I am on VS300 to Delhi in PE on 9th Sep. The seatmap on "update my booking" shows PE has 5 rows (18-22), with row 18 after the start of the wing root. The link in the reply above to the virgin site has the a340-600 config 1 with 4 rows of PE, starting at the wing root, and the a340-600 config 2 has 6 rows of PE, starting in front of the wing root!

Aha - I have just sussed it - the seat map on "update my booking" is a A340-300, and not a -600. So even if I do get a window, I'll have a great view of the wing! Or is there a PE seat on a -300 with a good view? D'oh!

I can answer my own question from above now from experience!:)

Row 19 on a config 2 aircraft remains the one without the window.

Didn't like the look of the new row 23 though next to the toilet.

I am not sure, Denzil or someone else may know, but I suspect it is because this is an area of body join. As PE is around the wing, all models of the A330/340 probably join here, with or without spacers to extend the body length.

Here is a picture of G-VFIZ in her birthday suit. It kind of shows what I was talking about. I think the blank area may house a mating stringer, to bring the two sections together. But I may be way off. I'm no expert in this area.
