Hiya

The no. 1 and I are of to LA and Palm Springs in October. Partly due to my failure to book on time, and VS's rules on Z fares, we're off on ANZ since it was several thousand pounds cheaper in J for the journey and we still get some TPs and miles.

One thing ... ANZ recommend the United Red Carpet lounge at LHR which I hear is crap, yet their Web site says that if you're in business premier you can use any Star Alliance lounge at Heathrow ... can anyone advise if there's a better option than United?

Thanks dudes [:p]

SAS, Singapore or Thai are the other options, I think. SAS is probably the best of the bunch, although the SQ lounge is reasonably good from personal experience. I think only the UA RCC has showers, but I might be wrong.

SAS' one is FAR better than the RCC Mortuary.

It's not hard to find either - up the ramp towards the gates, and there's the entrance: "The London Lounge". [y]

Do they still have that crazy security cr@p where if there's an offloading flight you have to wait before gaining entry to the SAS lounge?

The SAS lounge, although OK and on a par with the UA FC lounge
(never been in the UA biz lounge), is still a utilitarian sanitised backwash, and definitely it's a far cry from the CH.

Cheers, Howard

Yeah these passengers are mostly from SAS, flights arriving on stand 302/04/06, all other passenger now arrive upstairs now that we have completed the pier 5,6 & 7 segregation project at T3, this is the only time departing and arriving passenger mix and this will soon stop once phase 2 of the pier 6 segregation complete next summer. :)

And the SAS, lounge is far better than the UA, lounge.

Thanks for your responses - you confirm what I had heard about the RCC ('mortuary' LOL, sounds like the AA J lounger which is dire).

Has anyone actually shopped around the *A lounges preflight with a qualifying ticket, and had any hindrance in entering any of them?

Also on the return VS uses the ANZ lounge at LAX so the trip is the same in that regard. You get UCSs on ANZ plus a green verison of the old VS red pillow.

I've not had any problems accessing either the London Lounge or the SQ lounge when flying UA with my bmi card. Staff seem to know the rules and have not re-directed me to the UA RCC. SQ lounge has very nice showers with ensuite toilets and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries. Also, a selection of hot food is available at meal times in the SQ lounge.

I have booked a reward ticket LHR-LAX-LHR on ANZ in C in October. I have been told by ANZ that C pax can use the "Virgin lounge" at LHR-is this correct and if so is this the Clubhouse?
