I was talking to some friends who are due to fly to US next week with VS. Both of them have talked themselves out of going due to the recent spate of security alerts. They were just going to walk away from their trip and put it down to bad luck.

But I am sure I remember an email from VS sometime shortly after 10th August offering to rebook 'nervous' passengers on flights later in the year.

Did I imagine this? Does anyone remember this? I didn't keep the mail so have no way of checking. I checked VS policy which is only in force when advised not to travel by the UK government.

So if I didn't imagine this, does anyone have a copy of the email you can send me to see if any of the terms can be applied to my friends to give them time to get over their panic attack?

This applied in the first few days of the scare. Next week is so far past it that they would be deemed to just be choosing not to fly. So they could get their taxes back but unless they're on reschedulable fares they'd lose the rest.
