As many of you may have heard, an aircraft has gone down in Afghanistan. All 14 people on board have been killed, 12 RAF, 1 Royal Marine and 1 Soldier. I am currently away from my base and I am desperate for any kind of information on this, I know the MOD will only release basic information at this stage, but if anybody knows anything e.g aircraft type I would be grateful.
Cheers.

Channel 4 news say that MoD report it as a Nimrod recon.

Cheers

As Mcuth says it seems it was unfortunately a Nimrod MR2 belonging to the RAF which went down near Kandahar in southern Afghanistan.

Its been a terrible terrible summer for aviation disasters. I feel every time I hear similar news a real pang of relief its not one of our aircraft. Aviation in the UK has had a pretty good run in the 90's and 00's, but we're all very mindfull that accidents will and do happen no matter how security or safety minded an organisation is.

Thoughts for the Famillies.
