AIRPORT PARKING

After watching a rather damning report about parking at Airports the other night I have been looking into the Multi-Storey (MS) at Manchester but it appears rather expensive, (£126) for two weeks.

Anyone got inside info on how to get a cheaper quote for terminal 2 MS or other recommendations?

I always use this site for all my car parking at airports, they also do really good deals on hotel and parking packages, and have never had any problems. I used both standard parking/hotel and car parking and meet and greet services without any issues.

I nearly always use the site Neil has linked to above.

I don't fly from Manchester, but from LHR they take some beating for hotel / car park deals.

I don't know how far away from MAN you are, but for many years we have taken to staying in an airport hotel the night before the flight. This suits us, as we are a long way from London, and it cuts out the last minute panics and hassles of driving on the M1 / M25 on the day of the flight.

You often find that hotel + car park deals are as cheap, if not cheaper than paying for a car park on its own at LHR / LGW. [?]

Not sure if this is the same for MAN.

I totally echo what Nick has just said, for us staying at an airport hotel the night before starts our holiday a day early and as Hull doesn't have any major airports near it means I can relax in plently of time without worrying about traffic problems etc, and as Nick said using the site I linked you to, the rates are very similar for basic car parking or car park and hotel.

I usually use these guys if i am having to fly from Man.Looked briefly at rates and they charge from £61.20 for parking for 2 weeks.

I have never had any problems with them.

For the BCP discount, I think you first need to log into yout Flying Club account on the VS web site. As last time I did this the other week, the discount code it pulled through was actually 'Virgin Atlanic' (note the spelling, theirs not mine)

For 2 days parking at MAN I pay £13.50 which includes a £2 discount being a FC member. Purple Parking charge £15.75 for the same car park. I always use the Q Park (new name for Carminder) carpark which is not far from T2 at MAN with buses taking you to all terminals. Very good service with recently refurbished car parks as well. Other car parks at MAN are off-site which is a real pain.

What was the damning story saying out of interest?

I saw it to and in short people were complaing about damaged cars because the car park companies were moving cars to other sites. One chap had his car written off which was quite bad and someone else had their car stolen because the company left the keys in the ignition.

What made it worse was that we parked our car with one of the companies featured and we booked through a well known site (which some posters are recommending here). Won't be using them again.

Yep.. VERY interesting programme, bit scary, but good. Didn't focus wholly on car parking, but general 'holiday nightmares'.

Certainly made me think about my arrangements, so much so that after looking blissfully at my shiny new Audi I have cancelled my 'meet & greet' where they drive to an off-site, and book into T2 long stay.. tad more expensive but at least I park the car and KEEP THE KEYS![^]

Knee jerk this may be, but after reading the terms and conditions (does anybody do that?[?]) I couldn't settle until I'd done something about it.

I have to say I have never read the terms and conditions and, as you imply, I suspect I am not alone. I will look at them closely next time.

I am about an hour and fifteen minutes from LHR. So unless it is a short trip I tend to use a taxi firm. For anything more than 5 days, it works out cheaper anyway. But even for less than 3 days, the saving in hassle and stress is well worth in.

Try http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/app/CarParkBooking for T2 car parking. Patrolled site less than _ mile from T2 - a very easy 5 or 6 min stroll. Leave the memsahib in T2 with the bags and pick her up from the door of arrivals a few mins later.

For Meet & Greet parking at MAN & BHX, I have always used CPS (Chauffeured Parking Services). Website is http://www.parkwithcps.com

I have never had any problems with this company - they are always there to meet you at the stated time & are generally very flexible if you phone the given number to say you are running early / late for your departure meet. They have always insisted on walking round my car with me to agree on the condition of the car & mileage at handover (& make you sign to confirm this).

CPS also monitor your incoming flight - I once arrived on AA into MAN well over an hour early & phoned then from the baggage reclaim hall to advise of the early arrival. The response I got was "yes, we know the flight is in, the driver will be there in 5mins". Sure enough, we got outside (baggage trolleys laden with ski bags / equipment) and the car was there waiting in the arrivals pickup area, fully defrosted & warm (it was Feb).

Admittedly, I don't know where CPS actually park the car, but everything about them I have seen seems 100% professional.

Whilst not condoning any of the above, or saying that I would like such things happening to my 'bella', I am a huge believer in the "what you don't know/see won't harm you' saying. TBH as long as I get my car back, damage free and without a few 100 extra miles then Im happy, what they do with in during my hols I aint too bothered. I imagine if you saw everything that happened to your stuff you would never let anybody ever do anything for you again (think how your suitcase is handled at the airport)

With the Q Park carpark close to T2 at MAN, you dont hand over your car keys at all and keep them with you.
