Help!

I'm trying to use 150,000 miles that I've saved over 2 years on my honeymoon next July. Flying from LHR to LAX on Virgin, stopping off in States for a while, then onwards to Cook Islands with Air New Zealand. Was originally looking to use them on partner airline Air ANZ to get two free flights from LAX to the Cook Islands, going out 6 July, coming back 17 July. This would have cost 60,000 miles each and saved me more than £1300, but despite flights only going on sale 3 weeks ago, ANZ have come back and said there's no reward availability

So I had a look at using them to fly Virgin LHR to LAX upper class outbound, economy back, July 2 to July 26 at 75,000 miles each. Again, response was no availability in UC. Even PE outbound LHR to LAX is apparently almost gone (two seats left) and I'm reluctant to blow 2 years of mileage on PE.

I'm talking about flights 10 months in the future, so I'm more than a little disappointed to find no availability on ANZ or Virgin for reward of my choice. Is it likely that either Virgin or ANZ will release more reward seats in the future?

One of the tricks with reward availability is choosing your routes. SFO normally has good availability. More seats will be released as and when Revenue decide they're less likely to sell them to revenue pax.

I have noticed very low rewards availability in the last few months. If you can fly mid-week this will help also (wed is a good day for reward seats). You need to be quick to get them and thats assuming they released them anyway. Apparently some flights don't get any and some as few as 2 seats are allocated as reward.

Good luck - don't blow your miles on PE! Have you checked MPM fares?

As Decker says, nearer the time the revenue team will release more seats if the loads are light. Normally, 7 days before you will see extra seats although that won't help you in planning your honeymoon.

A couple of weeks ago we booked 2 UC reward flights, for the end of next June, to LAX flying back from SFO.
VS had availability on our first choice of dates.
Looks like we were lucky.

Thanks VS[y].

Okie if you are a bit flexible with the dates there is only one seat available on 2nd July and their are two on the 27th if you could return then. So one of you could travel both way in upper out 2nd and back on 27th and buy one of you a oneway out on the 2nd. There are seats available on or around the dates.
