oh think of the extra fuel they would need!

Seriously, I think this would be a much better way of dealing with the problem - if there is a problem; maybe the WCs are actually for Y pax after all[:?]

The simplist way would be to adopt what the US airlines have, a rope across the division as well as a curtain as it makes a good psychological barrier as we british would always think twice about breaking through a barrier.

Or if the curtain was buttoned to the side of the bulkheads - although this might be some bother for the crew if they have to unfasten it every time they want to go through.[:?]

Lavvie provision is a fun topic, interesting to me is this ratio of loos to seats on a recongired 346:

UC 1 loo: 15 pax
PE 1 : 19
Y 1 : 55

That's a bit of a jump, no wonder econ passengers are looking into PE!

So the key is if you want a better pax to loo ratio you have to pay more, simple:D

When 5 - 10 passengers are queuing outside each economy toilet after the main meal service has been cleared away. I don't see any harm in Y passengers using the toilets that are just behind the curtain. It help to get the queues down quicker if all of the toilets are used to their full potential. Gets the passengers back into their seats quicker and keeps the aisles clear.

It would be different if they were wanting to use the Upper Class toilets because they would be having to walk through the W cabin, Block the area around the galley and bar and even walk through the Upper Class cabin. This would be unacceptable. But when they are just using the toilets in the Premium cabin, they usually queue on the Economy side anyway, I know this because I see it every flight.

When in a PE cabin with row 23 try to avoid the middle 3 seats of row 22 as well. Row 23 will be the last to be used by check in, and could very well be empty. This happened to me on sunday to PVG. People waiting for the toilets use the empty row as a cut through from one side to the other, and use your seat back as a handrail. It got a bit tedious after the tenth time of being woken up with a jolt.
The good news was empty central search at T3 and no-one making me stuff my bag in a box,i think it was borderline but no-one seemed interested in checking it.

Hacks me off on a 747 when W pax use the J toilet, wasn't bothered at first untill this scanky woman physically barred the door whilst her 4 snotty kids took turns playing in the loo and then brushing their teeth etc, once the kids were sorted she just gave me a filthy look and went in herself to titivate her face. If you want premium or Upper facilities all you need to do is pay the correct fare in my book, I never sneerily use the UC loos when I am in PE.

On the A340-600 isn't economy and premium economy separated by a curtain? Or can economy passengers freely walk into the premium economy cabin?

Yes the W & Y sections are separated by a curtain, but obviously people can still walk through it.

This has been discussed in a previous thread very recently, and apparently Y are allowed to use the W class toilets.
