I was under the impression that the UC menu changed every three months. According to this thread the last change was June 7th. Therefore we are due a change unless it is going to be like the Bangers and Mash debacle when that menu remained there forever [:0]

While I have enjoyed the current menu (although I have to say the lamb shank tasted better than it looked) I wouldn't mind a change

Changes have been announced to staff.
There's a Mediterranean feel to everything. I'll try and find what I have on it.

A few examples:
Minestrone di verdure, a seasonal Italian vegetable soup served with a selection of warm breads or Tapas selecci—n, a selection of Serrano ham, chorizo, ensalada campera, garlic-marinated olives and sweet red peppers.

Bistecca alla Florentina, a Florentine style steak, served with portobella mushroom, rosemary roast potatoes, sautŽed Italian greens and Chianti sauce
Fruits de mer Thermidor
Moroccan vegetable couscous

Mousse au chocolat served with Champagne cream or warm Catonia citrus pudding served with raspberry sauce

Sign me up for the steak in 13 days.

Does anyone remember the delicious little steak snadwiches, I had them this time last year SFO-LHR. I would love those to make a re-appearance.[:p]

wouldnt get too excited about it, had it on 003 back to jfk last week. somewhat akin to a pair of old boots and the steak/tapas choice was interesting at breakfast time.....

more thrilling was being on vfiz, and seeing the new PE section which looked quite smart. almost tempting to go right, but only for a peek before heading back to civilisation again.

Got to say, however, have been pretty loyal to virgin now for a few years, admittedly only for 5 or 6 upper returns NY/LON a year, am intrigued to see what BA have to offer, wont take much to head back that way again. It was UCS that brought me to VS, could be a competitive seat that takes me away.

On VS1 to EWR last Friday I had the mezze plate as a light snack (had eaten in the clubhouse before hand) It included pitta bread, falafel and a generous dollop of hummous. I liked the idea of this dish but the pitta bread was one tiny piece which was not enough. Apart from that it was very tasty[y]

I think the fact that the entire menu is "themed" spoils it for people who may not like that type of cuisine, or want something more "plain".

A themed "thread" in the menu (so, an appetizer, main and dessert), alongside a wider variety of other dishes, would probably be a much better option than the entire menu being a single theme.

Agree with Mike! I'm not a huge fan of Mediterranean food, and there is nothing that grabs me on the selections that Ben posted. Still, more excuse to stuff myself with Clubhouse toast i guess :)

Are there any other options on the flight if the offerings are not to your taste? It seems that UC food is not as 'plain', as Mike said, such as may usually be offered in Economy or PE, so therefore may not be pleasing to some folk - like my husband for instance!!!!

insomuch as my memory is a little hazy, the sample menu above seems pretty comprehensively correct. Very odd on a 9am flight.

There's also Steak with Tatties and Fish Pie on the menu for those with more simple tastes ;)

Fish pie isn't as bad as it sounds, Ben. Basically it is fish in a sauce topped with mashed potatoes as opposed to pastry. There can be other vegetables added to the sauce/fish mix and when done properly it isn't bad at all.

Aer John would appreciate the plain option along, so it seems, with many others. [y]
