Am I the only person who's nearly in meltdown? Card transferred over in July when the "upgrade" (ha bleeding ha) to VS Amex was offered.Since then I have accrued no miles whatsoever on spending (and plenty has been done)and no bonus of 5,000 miles as offered for taking the "upgrade". I have rung members shop/MBNA/ Uncle Tom Cobley and all so many times that I've lost count. I've been promised repeatedly(at least 5 times) that it's all being sorted etc etc (even been given a managers direct line but she never answers her phone) but of course it hasn't.They are addamant I've had the miles which I categorically haven't.They've checked my FC number is correct (it is ) so I'm at a loss as to why they're insisting the miles were deposited in my account some time ago.I even offered to send them an electronic copy of my FC account to prove the miles haven't been deposited.
I know Richard has a meeting with them soon but am concerned about the level of ineptness overall (I know it's MBNA issued but even the service I had when I had a "proper" MBNA card wasn't as awful as this). The bills keep arriving promptly though!
Anyone else experiencing the "complicated technical difficulty" (their latest diagnostic offering) or is this problem unique to me?

Hi Julie

Same here IÕm afraid, no bonus miles and no spend miles since I changed cards. Apparently everything will be sorted on the 30th September, tomorrow!!

It's going to be interesting to see what actually happens.

So I'm not alone!! Ah, I feel so much better now Trev:D.Are there more or are we "The Mileless Two"? Call me cynical (sounds like you are too) but don't bank on tomorrow -they told me it would all be sorted by the end of August. And it wasn't[}:)]

This whole AMEX fiasco is a total PITA [:(!] There must have been a real good deal on the table for VS to have left the relative calm and order of MasterCard for AMEX.

Don't suppose there is even a cat in hell's chance of AMEX being dumped and VS going back to MC [:p]

Hi Julie,

I was the same - I got my card on 1st July and my first miles were added on 14th September while I was on holiday!!

Up to the holiday I probably called them every day for two weeks - eventually I got through to the "marketing" department who actally allocate the miles to your statement and then infomr Flying Club!!

The call to marketing came after INSISTED I talk to a manager and threatened to actually go to the MBNA building in Chester ( and I have been there before for other reasons!!!)

Can I ask - is there a line on yoru flying club statement saying "your card has been registered" alongside a value of 0 miles - this is the "sign" that MBNA has got the "link" with the Flying Club!!

I guess you just have to become a pain in the arse to them to get it to work - but it truly is a pain in tghe arse trying to get them to understand!!!

I dont have any other tips other than keep going - now that its all working for me the statement an miles al works as it should!!!

Good luck

Evening Mr J
Can't see any line on either flying club statement or virginmoney online statement to say card is or isn't registered..Paper statements have been telling me how many miles I've earned (or not) though. MBNA/VS whoever tell me card is linked but can't explain this "complicated technical difficulty". All a bit odd as MR DL has had no problems and has been merrily earning miles for ages and did nothing to make this happen...Even stranger I had some miles (all 21 of them, whoopee doo)applied in August for a transaction I made in Dubai in June on the VS MC (and a stroppy letter telling me to stop using the mastercard several days later!!!).
Like Treelo says though, probably little chance of a return to relative calm and order (in the guise of MC). Makes me feel a bit sad though- the fact that my life is currently being dominated by the hunt for missing FC miles just reinforces that I am truly beyond redemption and actually have no life as such....

Am I the only VF member to have had no problems with the new VS Amex, only once had it not accepted and miles are credited no problems and the begining of each month! So for me its all good. (sorry, know the was a moaning thread but just thought I should try and balance it out somewhat[:I])

No problems here either. Miles on time, got the bonus miles straightaway and fine in shops/online so far (well, took a couple of tried in the card reader at Sainsbury this morning to work)

They must just really hate some people ;)

Mine was all fine, ie. miles credited on time, got the bonus miles but as of my last statement several weeks back no miles whatsoever [n] I'll pursue it on return from holiday, can't afford not to as that statement was worth over 12K miles!

I think you just need to wait in that case. The last few months everyone has been getting their miles in the 1st week or so of the next month, so a mid August statement resulted in miles being credited for everyone on 7th Sep. So I'd say wait another week and see when most people get their miles, and you should get yours too. [?]

My miles have always been credited on the 7th of the following month, so as Locutus has said, don't panic yet, as long as your statement shows how miles you have earned for the month then they should be credited no problems.

Showing the ammount earned on the statements isn't the problem -My miles have been merrily showing on my statements - they just don't appear in the account[:w]

VegasCrazy was just talking about his most recent statement, so these should appear around the 7th Oct, but if you haven't had any, then yes, you should be worried and run around waving your arms in the air. [:?] I assume you have asked MBNA what FC number they have for you?

They don't want to set a precedent though! Next month we'll all be complaining if on the 3rd November we don't have our miles! [V]

Well what a nice surprise, just woken up here in Palm Springs for a quick canter on VFlyer and I'm being told to check my FC account....YES...they're all there - loads of them. Now I can book the CDC's for our DXB hol in April :) Steve's checked his account & they're all there as well. Thanks for taking the time to point this out [y]

Does everyone reckon that this is MBNA's final "policy" - ie. all miles for month (whatever statement date) appear at start of following month, perhaps 1st working day, ie. today = 1st working day of month?

Like others, for months I had been used to the miles being credited on the exact date the statement was released. In all honesty, surely that is the simplest & fairest system[:?] If the new "start of month" policy now prevails it means that someone with a statement date at the start of the month will have to wait a month to get their miles whereas those with end of month statement dates get their miles moreorless instantly. Could be vital when you need those miles desperately ;)

I prefer this policy in that I get the miles that are from the previous statement, no more of that mastercard thing where the last 5 days or so miles are on the next months statement. I can copy my statement into excel, add up the pound figure and check the miles are accurate. :D It's about the only good thing about the Amex card.

Some(not all)miles have appeared as if by magic in my account (think Paul Daniels and Debbie Mc Gee).I'm now past the point of caring.Let's hope there are no more problems (apart from the missing July miles...).Hope next month will bring the miles spent on VS holiday to MCO in Jan.
