Hi,

Probably an old and tested subecjt, but on the VS web site there appears to be two different A346 seat patterns, one with the WC at the front left, and one with the WC front right. Im booked in 2K for the whole return trip on VS200 in December - So just wondered which A346 config should i expect ? - A WC next to my head, or out of sight, out of mind on the left ? I heard rumours they were changing the config, has this been done yet, and again have i been to hasty in booking my seat 2K ?

Cheers.

It depends, VS now have two different config for the A346, and it all depends on which a/c operates your route on the day of travel, something which is unanswerable I am afraid. There is actually very little difference in the 2 configs.

Hope this answers your question

I think most of the A346's now have the washroom on the 'K' side of the Upper Class cabin now as apposed to the 'A' side where it originally was.

You are likely to get some washroom noise if you sit in 2K. I would personally move slightly further back, maybe go for 4K or 5K. I like seat 4K on the A346's.

Agree on the washroom layout, and that you will get disturbed more there. Personally, I would go out on A side, back on K side - guess that makes me POSH :D. If you do so, on the A side, move back to a seat between 9-14A, so you are not facing (albeit in a herringbone way) the person in the D row if you were further forward, and so you are not too close to the bar. Of course, if you are travelling with someone, you may see this slightly differently.

On the way back, as James says, go for a seat slightly further back, say from 4-7K. Again, further back than that, you will be 'facing' someone. Having said all that, you don't really see people you are 'facing' all that much. Pretty much all UC seats are good! See here to choose your seat and view the different configs.

Thanks for the replies.... Mixed views really, some say i will be disturbed quite a bit, others say no noise at all.. Guess it depends on the load, the passengers, etc.. we shall see! - think due to the ticket i have, i cant change it now anyway, so no need worrying about it.

One other thing, i have heard that you can send SMS messages from the clouds onboard, is this true? - Anyone know the cost at all? - Would be pretty cool to text someone letting them now how the sunset over Asia looks with a glass of bubbly in hand!

Obviously need to make a note of all numbers i would use, due to mobile phone usage onboard.

Thanks guys.

5K is a nice seat on the A346 away from the bar and toilet and you dont face anyone!

I used to prefer seats further back, but now I think I'd go for about 3-5K. It's personal preference really. Also, I wouldn't worry about "facing" someone as you can barely see them and it's not a disturbance.

Indeed you can with V:Port which will be on your A/C (it's also available with Odyssey too now as well). I think it's about US$2.50 per message sent. Once a mesaage has been sent, they can now even reply to you and I think this costs you US$2.00 per received message.

You can also send messages to any email address as well. Same costs for both sending and receiving.
