hi can anyone please tell me what amenity kits they are using now on the lgw-mco route in UC

we are flying out on 14th november returning 13 december if it makes any difference

i have checked various places and have got my self even more confused than before i started looking

also do the kids get one ?

Currently the amenity kit on offer is the Scrooge pack but there have been reports of some LGW flights getting the Oswald Boateng kit amonth os so ago.

I understand that the Scrooge Pack is being up-dated but when it is due to be introduced, I haven't heard, so I'm afraid it is difficult to give a definitive answer

We got the OB Travel Wallet kit LGW-MCO and MCO-MAN, that was last week.

Currently the OB kit for LGW flights - whether this is the case mid November though, i wouldnt know. Yes the kids will get one too if they are flying in Upper.

Steve - there are quite a few thread knocking about regarding the snooze pack, This one is probably the best for explaining what you actually get in it and what other extras are available.

Also if you do a search with the Search function you will be able to find some of the others.

Take a look here and here for a couple of good pictures (taken by our own Mcuth) of the UC Amenity kit on LHR flights (affectionately called the 'scrooge' kits by V-Flyers as they are not quite up to previous standards). The Scrooge pack currently contains Ear Plugs, Socks, Eye Mask & the "Change for Children" envelope.

In my experience flying out of LGW younger passengers were given a Y kit. Maybe that was just the FA's discresion as the OB kit doesnt really have much to interest a child.

But by the time I hit the cabin my powers of observation have been blunted somewhat by my time at the clubhouse bar.

ive just read the main thread , all 10 pages , and far from thinking that this UC trip paid for from very hard earned savings will not be the little bit of luxury i had promised the wife .

If my views have tainted it at all, then I am sorry. This is one of the reasons why I don't write TR's to be honest. A lot of people may not notice certain aspects in the service, and for someone travelling for the first time in UC or not that regular, they may not notice any big issues. The food aspect is quite noticeable, my views are not gospel. It would just appear that a certain number of other regualrs woudl agree that the menu is less than optimal at the moment. I sit back and think am I being too crotical of the service, but then I think back to how I got to that and its because the service/menu was at one time stellar, but perception is that it is slipping. The menu issue just reinforce that perception. I know VS are very hard at work to resolve some of the issues, the feedback provided by visitiros here has assisted in identifyign some of the areas.

Hi Steve. I am like you, this is a special trip on UC and very looked forward to. I have become more disappointed as I read some of the reports on decline in services, food quality etc, after booking this holiday! However, I have decided most of the posters on here are regular business users and therefore more critical, which I understand, and would be the case with all of us I am sure! I am miffed about the amenity kit and the food situation though!!! We also fly from Manchester which has the poorest services for the same price as London.

I am determined to enjoy the experience and hope for a change in the food before the end of November, but I am not hopeful about that! Paying the UC extra and taking your own sandwiches on board is laughable!

We will enjoy it!!

If you do have issues onboard the best thing to do would be to speak to the FSM (person in a black shirt). They will listen to your issues, try and resolve them if possible, and make a note in the flight log of any problems.

Steve and Maz, i am sure you will have a wonderful trip. As Richard says, a lot of compaints about Upper Class come from members here who have been flying Upper for several years or more and have noticed a lot of changes. Some of these changes were cuts in service to try and claw back some capital after 9/11 where most airlines were struggling. Some changes do seem to be penny pinching though, and some just where a little more effort is required. However, what a regular Upper traveller notices will be different to the infrequent traveller. From my experience, the crew are usually spot on and the suite itself is still fantastic. Its just the niggle of remembering how much better things 'used to be' - but then i think we all do that in varying aspects of life. I still love flying Upper, there is a lot that VS still need to learn in order to effectively compete with other airlines but the experience is still good enough to keep me coming back.

Relax, enjoy your upcoming holidays, and rest assured that you'll probably have a fantastic journey.

I guess some of us just want everything sugar coated and Disneyish and don't want to hear the negatives![:I]

I do want to say a big thank you to everyone on here - I have learned a lot and much will actually help us get the most from the experience. I am hoping my hubby enjoys it so much he decides it is the only way to travel!;)

got to add my thanks to that high flyer

it will be my first time flying the suites -our last trip was possibly one of the last non suite flights .

so im sure we will enjoy it and i also agree with maz we too are looking for it all to be disneyish .
i guess also that to us very infrequent flyers the amenity kits are such a nice novelty thats possibly why we will miss them more

my son and his girl friend are flying at the back and as it is their first virgin flight they are so excited at the prospect of have their first ever amenity kit of any kind .
but they do not fly out till 2 weeks after us so im sure they will get even more excited in those 2 weeks .
