Did anybody see the programme the other night with SRB talking about the Mile High Club? Now I wasn't watching it myself ([:I]) but heard somebody, somewhere talking about it - apparently he said that he "might" be a member but can't quite remember all the details...

The joys...

Neil:)

SRB's admitted to being a member before ... and for someone who owns his own airline, good on him :)

Thanks,
Sarah

Strictly speaking though I suspect it is a misnomer. 1 mile is equivalent to approx 5300 feet. I would have thought that most aircraft large enough to be comfortable would be cruising at a significantly higher altitude in Class A airspace. That is unless he became a full member before leaving class B airspace. WOuldn't be much time for introductions then!

Much more likely to be a member of the 6 mile high club.

Not quite sure where this topic is heading, but what would be the name of that club?

I wonder if there are already any NASA members.

IIRC, the first two were Russian Dogs (Veterok and Ugolyok) :)

Thanks,

Thats right, Russia used to love sending dogs to space, one of them died almost straight after coming back down to earth - although I am not sure there was any evidence to confirm they were the first space mile high club members, was there[?]

I wouldn't have thought it was possible for them to join the 100-mile high club given that there was barely room to swing a cat (or indeed dog) inside the Sputnik dog-capsule.

Besides which the main problem with the dogs was that the forces of lift off and weightlessness generally frightened the bejaysus out of them - despite their training - and so I doubt they would have really felt frisky enough for a spot of whatever passes as canine slap 'n' tickle, even if there was room.
