Buy Miles, Gift Miles

Had a VS alert this morning about buying miles as gifts and for yourself.

I was aware you could buy miles as gifts but didn't know that you could purchase them for yourself (up to 25000 a year). Is this new or am I just being a numptie?

Potentially quite usefull when youre really desparate for a reward I guess..
