My only CH experience included almost colliding with Liam Gallagher as he barrelled out of the lift.

Other minor celeb spots have included Helen Mirren (eating in Garfunkels for some reason), Mark Gatiss (The League of Gentlemen, who sat across the aisle from me on a flight from NYC) and Mickey Dolenz at LAX. Oh, and Dave Gorman at Warboys Sport & Social Club.

Think my best has to be Colin Powel holding the door open for me in the LHR Concorde room and bidding me good day, same visit I also spotted a rather grumpy looking Paul Simon.

Yeah, I know she's done a couple of half decent acting jobs in her time, but let's face it she's no Lady Victoria Hervey is she ? ;)

Have you been flying from the LHR Royal Suite? Not a patch on the CH though. ;o)

Mind you, I love the image of the woman who runs it being a member of the TA. Somehow can't imagine her in a war zone - but i guess she would be useful for any ettiquette queries.

My best encounter with a celeb was with Sean Connery, who I nearly bumped into in Berkley Square in London. He was very friendly and chatted about what he was doing (going to a meeting about his next project). He seemed a bit taller than you would think he is from his on screen presence.

On my last VS trip, Journey South were on the BMI flight from Heathrow to Durham Tees Valley.

I have met all 3 members of Yellow Magic Orchestra and re-created the album sleeve of "Solid State Survivor" but that is seriously OT lol!

Well, if you were in the LHR Clubhouse on the 7th October, you would have bumped into Gwen Stefani, her little baby, and her bloke (I don't read Hello/Heat/OK, etc., so I don't know their names).

They were flying somewhere on VS (LA, I think), and I was behind them in the security line at T3. The baby was in a sling-type contraption across Gwen's shoulder and kept smiling at me. I was on UA, so I didn't get to visit the CH, instead opting for SK/AC's "London Lounge" (because sitting in the UA RCC is like sitting in a funeral director's office).

Cheers!

Hi All

Personally I have always found those that you might call 'celebs' to be very pleasent and generally wish to keep themselves to themselves and sit quietly rather than what you would expect. I have actually seen more fuss from cabin crew 'fussing' over them !!

My wife sat adjacent to Matt Lucas (Little Britain) in PE on a flight to MCO ..... I was in the row in front .. he kept her amused and laughing ... when we got off my wife whispered to me " I'm sure I recognise him .. is he on the telly " :D

Kelly Osbourne was in UC across the way from me on the VS 23 recently and Billy Zane (Kate Winslets Fiance in Titanic & partner of Kelly Brook) was on the VS 24 in March.. actually my wife was in the next suite .. he was very pleasant and chatty when they were sitting up eating .... I didnt get a look in !!

He was met in T3 Carpark by Kelly Brook ... they clearly hadnt seen each other for a while ;) (if only i'd had my camera handy $$$$$ )

Regards

Mark

I'm sure EGG's funeral parlour is much more tastefully appointed ;).

I was in the clubhouse on Friday night with the wife before flying downunder. Having her hair done she says to the stylist "do you get many famous people in here?". The stylist then appears to get a nervous twitch and something in her eye. The bloke having a trim next to my wife then gets up and leaves. The stylist then retorts, did you not recognise Mr Branson then ![:X]

On my first trip to the CH which was a while ago, I was on my way to DXB, but flying Qatar, SRB was in the CH I didn't speak to him, but all the staff seemed to be running around like headless chooks! :D

On my trip to NY I missed Westlife by 1hr! Here is hoping that there will be a "celeb" in the CH on 13th Dec. If not hope to meet any V-flyer's there. I'm off to DXB so will be there in the evening!

Why ever would they run around like that? The service is usually good anyway. There shouldn't be a need to run around.

As a matter of fact, I've seen service in some places deteriorate because the staff end up panicking when an owner/senior manager is present.

If people have to run around like nutters, then the place is badly run and doesn't employ well trained (or enough) staff.

(As an aside, I left a restaurant before having my order taken last week - simply because after being sat, it was noticeable that staff were charging up and down empty handed and not making eye contact - trying to look busy, but without doing any work. Anyone who's worked in service should know that an empty handed journey is a wasted journey.)

Cheers,
Mike
