Everytime i try ask the same question about upgrading to UC on my outbound flight i keep getting different prices (i.e £690 / £590 & at one point £305!) and have also just been told that if i did upgrade to UC from PE (i had pre-purchased clubhouse passes) i dont qualify for free Clubhouse entry because it is booked through VH.[?]

I asked if he could put me through to the British call centre and he said there is no call centre in Britain and hung up![:0]

Does anyone know any magic numbers to get through to them here so i can please speak to someone as i am not even getting any replies to my emails.

Not sure if you belong to VH's Frequent Virgin Club (0870 990 4214) but if you do I'd call them. Appreciate this isn't much help if you're not a member but they were very helpful when I ended up in a similar position to you last year - indeed the call centre issues were no surprise to them. In our case everything was fine when we booked the holiday but the moment we wanted to change one of the hotels everything went to pot - purely as VH direct all non "new booking" enquiries to the overseas call centre. I'm afraid to say we were treated very shabbily, had it not been for FVC I'm not sure how we'd have got on!

As James mentioned, call the FVC number.

Oh and you do get CH access with an Upper Class flight booked and paid for using V Hols as they issue Z fares for their Upper Class bookings.

I was under the impression that, if asked, an overseas call centre was obliged to give callers the telephone number of a UK call centre to which the question could be posed. Could be wrong, but I swear this was covered on one of those 'know your rights' type TV show earlier this year. :)

If I'm barking up the wrong tree then put it down to age or something.

I would ask to speak with a supervisor, and see where that gets you. (and take names...)

I booked an upgrade from economy to PE (for the return portion) after booking a Virgin Holiday then found a sting in the tail at check in where the airline (VAA!) wanted the differnce between the class of non upgradeable and upgradeable economy fare.

They can be real nitwits so be careful Ger!

I was having the same problem on Monday - was trying to chase up my Invoice and hol details from VH but as somebody has mentioned, if you select anything on the automated options that isn't a new booking you get through to India[V]. After a few attempts at trying to get them to sort it, without result, I decided I would just select as if I was making a new booking, got through to a lovely lady in the UK who sorted my problem within minutes, so if your really struggling give this a try.

Oh and I had the same price thing when upgrading to PE last year, in the end they applied my 10% FC discount 3 times[y], so it proves they haven't a clue what is going on.

Hey Guys,

Thanks very much for your advice.Last night i managed to get through to Upper Class Reservations and spoke to a very helpful girl who has quoted me £275.00 each to upgrade from PE to UC.

However i have a dillema.......my husbands best mate is coming and he wont pay that to upgrade and my husband says it is unfair to leave him in PE!

My boss has said just to book myself and leave the boys in PE!

Hmmmm what to do....

I 100% agree with your boss - if your friend doesn't want to pay, then thats his call, and if your hubby doesn't think its fair to leave him, again fair enough, but why should you lose out? Let them enjoy PE and book yourself in UCS, its your holiday too and I am sure they are big enough to cope without you for a few hours:)

Thats a very impressive upgrade price, well done.

I am fed up with Indian Callcentres, and I may be flamed for thinking it but I really do not like the idea of people in india having all my contact details, address and times when I am away available to them.
Personally I think its an invite for trouble and irresponsible of any British company to offer that information abroad.

Let's hope that's one of the calls "recorded for training purposes" and definitely a cause for a stiffly worded letter to VH management.

It also happened to me but the VH call centre agent was very careful to explain what was happening and, to be fair, I had wondered why we had a raft of flight discounts on our invoice which had reduced the price in the first place. I think that's more related to how VH advertise the upgrades rather than the functioning of the call centre / after sales service

I'm not quite sure why it makes any difference whether the call centre is in Middlesbrough or Mumbai in this respect. [?] However, if you are worried about this and want to choose companies based on the location of operations and personal information, bear in mind that many companies now offshore all their back office operations so even if the call centre operative is in the UK the person who processes your payment may be thousands of miles away.

Well guys, guess what?Tried to get through again and still kept getting through to India call centre. The problem i have is that every time i have gone through them i get wrong answers and most dont speak english that well. That is my main gripe and the fact i still havent come across one member of staff thst i have found to be helpful.

Anyway,i have booked myself to fly Upper courtesy of my lovely boss who paid for the upgrade while my husband and his friend sit in PE.(even though we fly on our first anniversary!)[}:)]
