Miami to Orlando

Struggling to book some reward seats to MCO (where have we heard that before [n]) and thinking of trying MIA out of LHR.

Pretty confident in and around MCO / Disney area, but have no idea how long it will take to get from MIA to MCO - can anyone advise.

Of course the other options would be to book a limo or whatever it's called these days, or maybe even a short flight up to MCO.

Any ideas ?

I flew into MIA back in 2001 and then did the short hop up to MCO on an AA flight. We had some very bad weather for the flight to MCO - so much so that the Captain announced prior to departure that the fasten seatbelt sign would remain on for the entire flight & there would be no beverage service. The flight was under 25mins "wheels up to touch down" and no-one moved around the cabin in the flight. All the crew remained in their seats & the toilets were locked for the flight, so they were not usable. In all fairness to the Captain, it was a very turbulent flight, so his decision was 100% justified for such a short flight.

David the distance from MIA, to Orlando is about 230 miles or 365 Km, and should take around 4 hours. From Miami/Ft. Lauderdale: take the Florida Turnpike North to Osceola Parkway West (Exit 249) to Walt Disney World Exits. I hope this helps.

David are you booking UC reward seats? If you are then you can book the limo to take you from MIA to MCO for 10K miles one way or to any address in the State.

We have done this for November as it seemed the best option unless wanting to stay in MIA for a night and driving the following day. Internal flight timings after landing in MIA involved either a tight connection or a long wait.

Another alternative (that opens up some more reward seat options) is to fly into and / or out of a station like New York / Newark and take internal flights into / out of MCO.

This is what we did earlier this year when we could not get reward seats out of MCO on the same day. JetBlue, among many others flies MCO to JFK.

We've just booked flights to MIA and return from JFK. We intend to take an interal flight from MCO -EWR and spend the last couple of days of our break in New York.

Looking at internal flights and Expedia are offereing MCO-EWR for £62 each.

We encountered this in May 2004 - so we opted to go into MIA instead of to MCO (we were flying home from SFO). Bonus was that back then we were good to go for UCS and also the LHR CH.

Mavrick is spot on with the distance and time. If you've just done a long flight in Y then it may not be such a pleasant drive to do. All very straight forward, and remember your own CD's for the car as I find American Radio worse than UK radio!

The JFK option is also a good suggestion with JetBlue touted.

Is that any faster than driving to the airport, checking in, waiting around, boarding, flying, waiting for luggage etc?

Or you could spend a night in MIA and enjoy?

Personally if you can get the reward flights into MCO then I would do that as I really do not like the inefficiencies and humourless environment that is the MIA immigration hall. Get there behind another 747 and you are going to have so much fun for 2-3 hours NOT!! If you search on MIA then you will find some examples of this "fun"
