OLCI PE Seat selection

Has anyone actually found any extra seats availible when they have OLCI?

I have been told this a few times and read it a few times but never seen it for myself.

I am interested as I have just booked some seats for a flight on Sunday and there are not enough showing free to select.

Im not sure I 100% get your question, what do you mean by extra seats??

OLCI will allow you to select any free seats apart from exit rows/bulkheads, if somebody has already pre-selected a seat then you will not be able to select it yourself (although at check in it sometimes happens). If there are not enough seats for you to do at OLCI you will have to check in at the airport.

The VS website doesn't show you whether a seat is taken by another passenger or being held back for allocation on the day of travel.

Normally the bulkhead seats are the only seating held back for LHR config seating in PE. I did OLCI for a trip to Havana last year and due to the extra seating in PE at LGW - extra seating was available which wasn't available to pre-book.

What I meant by the extra seats is that when I made the booking I was told that they could not allocate me seats at the moment as all the allocation that can be pre-booked has gone.

But use the OLCI and there will be others availible which we cannot book now.

I only know of the front row seats being held back for allocation on the day.

Yes only a certain %age are released before OLCI opens. The rest are released once Check in begins. Well now when OLCI opens for your flight.

Kewl. So if I use OLCI when it first opens there should hopefully be more seats to pick. ATM we are stuck in the middle of cattle class excatly where we were last year and ended up with no meal choices, except for Salmon [:$]

Yes thats right, 60% of the seats are available for pre-selection, then the rest of the seats become available at OLCI, apart from the Exit row/bulkheads.
