None of the LHR 744's have the new Y seats yet, the A346's are currently have the new W & Y refits and then the 744's will be having the new W's done next and I imagine the new Y seats will be fitted at the same time (although it will be later on next year by the time all the A346's are done!)

Sorry to be dim, but does this mean that my flights from LGW-MCO in March 07 will still have the old configuration?

Thanks

The LGW/MAN B744's are not getting a new config, they are staying the same it is just the LHR a/c that will get more UC and PE seats. The LGW a/c will be fitted out the new style Y and W seats eventually but VS have announced this will not be until 2008!

Ben - haveago at the management to speed up the adoption of new standards for non-LHR aircraft! I might fly VS to the Carribean et al if this happens ... otherwise it's a better carrier on these routes [:(!]

Do VS actually realise that its getting a little offensive to clients flying out of LGW/MCO that they never get new stuff or high quality till last, not as if the seats are any cheaper, bad enough that half of them are knackered.

Everytime I log on to VA, I see new over the top colorfull exiting announcements about new products and services only to find at the end of it. Its not available for the likes of me.

It's not just VS that work this way. BA and all other airlines do exactly the same. For example trans-Atlantic BA flights from MAN have only just had the now old New Club World product installed within the last 12 months. Flights from LHR have had the new seats for 6 years now.

All airlines get a faster return on thier investments by offering their new products on flights from/to LHR first, where pax are more likely to be paying the fully flex top J and F fares. Put another way, LHR flights make more money for the airlines than LGW or MAN flights do.

Doesn't augur too well for the recent GLA/MCO initiative then. [:p] What aircraft will they use?

I have to say it is silly that LGW/MAN (soon GLA) flights have old-style seats and crappy IFE (ODYSSEY ain't bad but rather V:PORT anyday, NOVA is no excuse). Considering that LGW was were the first VS flight took off from 22 years ago its a shame to see VS neglect it nowadays.

However I must admit that LGW/MAN a/c are intensively used and its for this reason I believe that VS would probably speed up LGW/MAN refits if it was possible.

Like EGG has said it must be getting offensive for the FF's on these routes and considering that some airlines in the charter sector are upping their game on routes out of LGW/MAN VS must take action soon if they are to compete.

Ah well, welcome to the hard reality that is life!
