Can I claim flying miles booking through Expedia

I have been looking on Expedia, and I can get 5 nights at the Bellagio in Las Vegas for £1,500 for 2, inc. flights. If I go through VS site, the flights alone will cost me £1,552.00 My qusstion is, can I book through Expedia, and claim my flyig points as well. [:I]

Yep,should be able to, probably an N fare, so half miles and 1 tier point per leg.I assume you are looking at flying in Y ?

When looking at flights on Expedia, if you select 'choose this flight' and then 'Read an overview of all the rules and restrictions applicable to this fare', you'll get to see the entire fare rules, and the fare class code that flight is booked in. A very handy little tool. Use that, and you'll know for sure what you will earn by checking it against our Fare Class Codes page

Thanks, you guys are great. Will I have to claim the miles by going to "claim missing miles" in FC? As by booking with Expedia, they will not be asking for my FC number.

No, you should not need to claim. You'll get a booking ref from Expedia which should be valid on the 'Update Booking' section of the VS website. From there you can update your booking to add your FC number.

If that doesn't work then just present your FC card at check in and they will add your number to the booking at that point.

I've never had a problem with getting miles when booking via Expedia etc.

Oh..look, you can teach an old dog new tricks [:0]...I was just going by my extreme knowledge of LGW-LAS fares right now...course could be wrong..that routes fares bounce around like a 4 year old on crack [:0][:0]

Expedia's actually pretty good when it comes to entering frequent flier details. When you make the booking you'll be prompted to enter your FF number (from a huge list of all the airlines) and that's all you need to do. When we went to USA in October we used Expedia to book DL flights and, sure enough, when we checked in and got our boarding passes our VS FC numbers showed. The miles from the DL flight were also credited very quickly. There shouldn't be any reason why this doesn't work for VS flights, ie. you enter your FC number on Expedia at time of booking.

I agree with James above. Expedia is good for this (although not always the cheapest for flights)

If you set up an account in Expedia, there's a section for saving your frequent flyer account numbers (along with sections for hotel and car hire account numbers too). When you then log in and go to book a flight, Expedia pulls through the matching FF account for you during the booking process.

The only time you need to manually add a FF # is if you book a partner airline.

I booked flights on expedia just the other day. It asked for my FF number during the booking.

About 30 mins after I booked my flights, I went on to the VS website to choose my seat. I have to say, I was impressed! I went to the update booking section, and my flight was listed without me even needing to enter the booking ref.

I selected my seat, and everything went as smooth as could be.

Thanks for reminding me. I use Rpoints. BTW, I booked the flights as above, and I checked Expedia the next morning an the offer had gone. Now the same itinerary will cost over £2,300. Result!!!
