Apologies if this has been mentioned before (I did do a search before posting a new topic) - but VS have reduced the number of miles of offer through the MMF scheme now. The new referral bonuses are;

2000 - Economy
5000 - Premium Economy
10000 - Upper Class

I assume this is for new referrals issued from the date of the change. I got the full 15K miles for a new FC member's first UC trip last week.

Thanks
James

but now the 'referree' member earns miles as well as the person recommending them.

I thought the "referee", or to put it another way, the person you recommend who makes their first flight also gets the appropriate mileage for the flight they took.

The person I recommended certainly got double base miles for their UCS trip & I got the 15K miles for recommending them to Flying Club.

Thanks

in addition to the 'actual miles earned' as a normal flying club member, the 'new' member also earns some bonus miles, so it works well for them to be recommended, as they also get a little thank you.

Juliet - I see what you mean now, having read ALL of what it says on the Flying Club pages about the new MMF. Naturally when I first saw the reduced miles on offer I just thought "tight so and so's" and stopped reading. My mistake!

Thanks

AND the best part is..... the recommended party can be travelling in ANY revenue class (aside from Miles Plus Money.) so VH bookings in economy will earn the bonus miles now!

Thats excellent news, the amount of MMF miles I haven't got because of N class has been unreal, will need to find some new friends now who aren't FC members[:?]

Yup, the only two referrals I did were people using VH and were given N class tickets, so this is indeed good news, although I doubt I'll get the chance to refer anyone else. It does n't matter anyway, as I never have time to spend the miles anyway.

I recently recommended 3 friends through MMF and didn't receive any miles for recommending one of them. Is it because he flew economy out and PE home? The other 2 people flew PE both ways.

Bit of a b*gger if it is. You think they'd at least credit you with the rate for the lower class of the two legs. I got caught with that over the summer but I thought that was down to one leg being in "N" (which was non qualifying at the time).

I recently recommended a couple of friends who were flying to Sydney. I managed to talk them out of flying BA and try Virgin. Despite both being regular long-haul travellers they have never flown VS. So because I believe VS to better than BA and also because I need some extra miles (I have 45K and the extra 6K would make a big difference!) I got them to fly VS and sent them e-cards to join!! I sent a message to FC to ask if I would get the higher rate (3000 miles) as they had flown before announcing the reduced (2000 miles) reward. They have just replied to me and it seems that although I sent them e-cards to join they actually did it through the website instead of the link sent which means I'm not connected with their joining. I'm really peeved!!! I have sent a message back explaining this and I'm hoping they'll acknowledge my part in getting them to fly VS in the first place and getting them to join FC and hopefully they may give me the miles.[:(!]

once the link is set up, the first 'qualifying flight' after that time (albeit years down the line) should still net you some bonus miles. As for the link not working, why not ring FC and ask if they can have a look, as you tried to recommend them.....
