Now the new economy seats are to be rolled out in the next few years including the gatwick fleet. with this refit LGW should get the same seats as LHRm and as the seats are designed for use with v:port IFE then LGW must recieve it with the refit.

Are the seats necessarily for v:port or can they just have a change of screen etc. without a change in the programming?[:?]

I think that may be what is called a tenuous link. I would like to to be true but I'm not convinced.

As a side question we have been told it costs £2m to fit VPORT (which actually is NOT a lot of money to modify an aircraft). Does anyone know how much the seat refit would cost. I estimate it could be more than £2m.

According to the VS press release, the PE re-fit is costing in the region of £12m. There's no mention of it, but I would think this includes the cost of the new Y seats as well.

I would think the new Echo PE seat costs quite a lot, bearing in mind that I read somewhere that each UCS seat costs in the region of £25K [:0]

The PE seats on the main deck of LGW/MAN B744's are V:Port seats but they dont have V:Port.

I dont think it will happen for a while, this subject comes up ever now and again and VS«s answer is always the same...cost...until the LGW aircraft start to get replaced we wont see VPORT there and as VS have just reuped their leases on some of the 744«s I dont see this happening anytime sone.

I think the answer is the that the LGW 744s (ATM) will be getting v:port in the future..., maybe..., never;)

Well I assume they will eventually, as I'm going to guess that eventually the LHR 744 will all end up at LGW and LHR becomes an airbus base.
On saying that, the Nova economy seats are actually quite comfortable,. and have winged headrests.
