I noticed he's not around any longer. I'm just really curious to know why? I valued the quality of his posts, and indeed the quality of his trip reports.

I will be sad not to see him on V-flyer any more.

Indeed - a loss to the site. Mike's decided to leave, and focus on other parts of his life.

His posts will, as you say, be missed - but he's absolutely fine & dandy, and keeping in contact still.

Just to clear up any possible misunderstanding. Mike hasn't died, he has simply chosen to stop posting on, and visiting a website.

Mike is a great guy, who made a massive contribution to V-Flyer, but let's not go too OTT. :D[8D];)

Why would one make a conscious decision to stop posting...? Just wondering, as I too rather appreciated his insight. Christ, nosey bugger aren't I?

Not that I know anything about it, but as he was such a major part of the site, I'd say that maybe one cannot just simply stop posting without any sort of notice - people might think you've died;)

BTW, was it just me or does this post no' sound like proper inglish, init (I had no idea where to put the apostrophe[:I])

Far be it from me [cough], but Sir might find this helpful.

I'm thinking of looking for something more wide-ranging for one of our younger guests on another thread, but I'm not sure I can find anything quite that wide-ranging! [:w]

Best wishes

Thanks for the tip, but I don't think it will quite cover the use of the apostrophe in "innit." Oh well, I suppose the users of such vocabularies in which the "word" (and I use the term loosely) appears most frequently will be too hung up on such a grammatical dilemma;)[}:)]

Oh, that's easy: It's 'in't'. Ask any Yorkshireman. [8D] Of course, while this is grammatically accurate the syntax is etymologically suspect, at best. But hey, such is life! In't.

Now what is the convention on smilies? :)

OK. Whatever....

Best wishes

There is an argument that there shouldn't be an apostrophe in "innit" as its derivation is not from "isn't it" but from a Hindi tag phrase. See here.

Those of us from the other side of the Pennines would say it was "int't".

Mods are traipsing up the stairs,
Their rattling keys raise one's hairs;
Be they alive,
Or be they dead,
Get back on topic or they'll
Lock this thread.

I will not heed your advice,
At my expense I'll pay the price;
For grammar is
My call today,
But for "topic locked"
I'm here to to stay

Insurrection's a dangerous thing,
upon your head a hammer it'll bring.
The mods are restless,
and in time will lock
this off topic thread
tick-tock, tick-tock...

Conformity I shan't obey,
My fine intentions I won't allay;
If I'm right
Or if I'm wrong,
To mcuth I dedicate
This poetic song.
