I had a nice suprise this morning :D
Checked my Hhonors account to see if my last stay at the Hilton Olympia had made me retain Gold and my account is instead showing I'm Diamond VIP until April 2008.
This was a complete suprise and as far as I can see its because they've changed the earning tier, or timeframe allowed.
Still nice treat though :D:D

I've been looking on the Hhonors website and the only tangible difference from Diamond to Gold is an extra amenity and some bonus points.
Is there anything extra I should be looking out for?... double/suite upgrades, full breakfast vouchers (have you ever had a UK Hilton Continental breakfast [:(])

cheers!

My guess would be you were on a Diamond fast-track (there have been quite a few of them issued) but didn't realise it.

Regardless, make as much use of it as you can [y]

Ah worked it out, I was looking at number of nights completed, didn't get it on that but I did make Diamond with my base points. Managed to get over the 100000 threshold.
Makes me feel better knowing I actually earned it :D
Still, happy to know if there are any extra benifts [y]

cheers!

Hi Wolves27,

Congratulations on getting Diamond.

Apart from the 50% bonus points the main advantages over Gold are;
(1) A special Diamond Desk at Hilton
(2)Priority over Golds for upgrades ( although suite upgrades are not a part of HH Benefit, at several hotels I have been pugraded to suites
(3) When booking you are guaranteed a room if paying Rack Rate at more than 48 hours in advance ( special event exceptions)
(4) No blackout date when booking awards- this can be VERY useful by contacting the Diamond desk.
(5) Potential for being target for promotions ( twice in the past year I have received Triple point promotions which add up the points quickly)

the HH Forum on flyertalk has lots of advice also.

Regards

I stayed at my first Hilton since going Diamond. Its one I've stayed at quite a few times (The Hilton Paddington) and yes did manage to get a suite, a very big one at that on my first stay.
I had booked a twin room and when I got there they hadn't reserved it. As a Gold I would have expected a simple upgrade to an executive room so felt like on this occasion my Diamond status did get me something extra.
They didn't try and serve us breakfast in the depressing "executive" lounge (read: basement) this time either but in the main restaurant..

Nice one Dean. It will be interesting to hear how your treatment varies (improves?) with your new status.
