Hi Everyone, this is my first pose im 15,My parents will be booking our flights to Hong Kong very soon but we normally fly BA[V]. I have tried convincing them to fly VS instead. They are already members of the BA executive club for 5 years (gold) and I said to them to join flying club instead. But they say they don't want to fly VS because BA offers connecting flights from Glasgow and they are able to check through ur luggage to HKG. Though the only problem is da luggage through to HKG. We (unfortunately) fly club[:$]. Also they want to try the new club seat, though i hope its not ready.

Please could anyone help me. Also any more hints I could convince my parents why VS are better. Pretty Please? [oo]

Do your parents fly First, Club, or the cheap seats? If Club or First, you could tout the Clubhouse for all it's worth. Cheap seats? Read a few of the TRs covering Y on VS and then read the Trip Reports for Other Airlines and pay attention to what's said about BA flights.

Come back and let us know what class they usually fly in, and we can give you a little more help. (We'd love to - many of us [V]won't[V] fly BA and will do our bit to save some other traveler(s) from doing so if we can!)

If your parents usually fly Club, once they go VS J to HKG they won't ever look back... :D

If you travel in F usually, I'm afraid it's your parents decision;)

If you travel in club usually, CH/UCS/v:port make for a far better offering in my opinion.

If you travel in Y, I'd still "big up";) v:port and ask them if they have ever tried Gu chocolate;)[:I][8D]

Hi thanks, We usually fly Club and sumtimes first.

But da reason my parents prefer BA [:(!] is becuz of da connecting flights ect, staff friendliness and three flights to hkg to choose from.

They really would like to try the new BA club world (I hope its not ready yet lol)
But i explained to them how VS is so much better tho! Plz help thanks

Thanks Sorry [:I] , We are planning on travelling to HKG in easter but they are also going to make another booking to SYD in the summer.

They have travelled in UCS roundtrip a year ago but said they don't like it because its hard to talk to the person next to you.

But I really would like to try the new clubhouse.

To be fair Ben, if you look 6 posts up, you'd find a response from virginpacific that made about as much sense [ii]:

Apologies if you have taken offence - I guess Ali G is not as popular over on your side of the pond - another Sacha Baron Cohen (aka Borat) invention.

If you use the link I gave to translate, you'll probably find it's actually not what you might think:

Hi

What are you talking about?

Definitely once I sit my butt down I don't need to talk to my other half alright? After looking at the TV and going to the onboard bar for a break, I go back and get into my bed here when I'm tired, a great bed isn't it? Listen to me, BA's awful.

Thanks, Howard

Again, it was not my intention to offend you or anyone. I hope that you can accept this apology in the way it's meant.

Cheers, Howard

The OP has a clearly limited writing style but this has just got offensive. I'm sitting here open jawed about this [n]

Humorous, certainly. Close to the edge, maybe. But offensive, come off it!

VirginPacific - if your parents are long-standing BA exec club members (with status?) it is actually quite a big decision to swap to another scheme. Also VS's routes may not fit in with their other flying. Good luck, and I admire your commitment, but you will I have your work cut out I think.

VS.

It is indeed a squeeze :D I'm sure it's fine for people whose feet can't reach the floor when sat on the ottoman, but for anyone else it's a real hassle.

'But look at our Clubhouse' is a line I believe we now know is used to cover a multitude of issues! 2 hours or so on the ground compared with 12 hours in the air. Hmmmm.

In all seriousness, if your parents have status with BA ( and wish to keep it, and earn miles ) and favour the service they get with BA, I think the chances of getting them to change are very slim.

Thanks,

David.
