So with another A346 into service are we losing another A343 or is this simply for more capacity?

The A343's are all due to stay with VS for at least the short-term. The next few A346's will be additional aircraft for the fleet - VS will have 2 extra A343's re-joining the fleet soon once their wet leases to VK come to an end...:D

Actually, just a very minor correction to my report of it 'arriving' ... On Wednesday evening it went to Gatwick, possibly because of the fog at Heathrow. Today (Thursday), just after 2pm it arrived at Heathrow. I doubt if many people have seen it yet, due to the fog!

If this new aircraft is treated like previous ones, it will spend a few days on the ground at Heathrow, and then go into service.

I am sure I read on another thread on here [infro from a VS staff member] that G-VWEB does it's first revenue flight tomorrow, 23rd Dec.

I think all the new VS A/C go to LGW first to get their cabins kitted out, you know all the usual stuff including safety cards, galley carts, blankets, booze etc.

The A340-600s were all delivered from Toulouse to Heathrow, and it's only recently I believe that Virgin have gained a hangar at Gatwick after taking over the old FLS facility.

So if the A343s are returning from darkest Africa land, what on Earth is replacing them, A340-600s?

Recently I have notice that the VS651/652 service to/from Lagos has been an A340-600.
